ESPN ha-ha specialist Kenny Mayne noticed that Cowboys assistant head coach/OL coach Tony Sparano's name sounds a lot like a TV mobster's name and had some fun with it. I always thought The Sparanos would be a good nickname for the Dallas offensive line. Especially since Rob Pettiti and Jason Fabini were whacked over the last couple years. Folks who frequent this here blog know Sparano is much more than a guy with a cool name. He's the reason you don't need to worry yourselves sick that Jason Garrett is going to leave for a head gig after this season. |

Kenny Mayne is pure genius!

Now that the Cowboy's assistant coaches have been released from the "Parcell's Protection Program", it's nice to see Sparano get a little face time.

Hey now Timmy - let's not jump to conclusions that Garrett is gone after this year. Is it likely? Yes, but lets see is Jerry "scrooge" Jones will attempt to keep him around. Now, I'll have comfort know that Sparano is around, but let's wait until the end of the year before saying Garrett's gone.
FYI - "scrooge" jones was meant to Jerry pricing the common fan out of the new stadium. Thank goodness for sunday ticket!

Does anyone know which diner this was filmed in?

It was filmed in the diner Brennan and Carr. Located in Brooklyn, New York. Listen to the video.

Actually, the part with the coach, Cuban and Cowboys was shot here in Dallas. YOU watch the film. "Best in Dallas" on the onion rings.
Something about your comment Matt..

Thanks :) That really made my day. Mark Cuban as the hit man (awesome!).

Does anyone know where the final diner scene was shot? I seriously doubt it was in Brooklyn.
Posted by Matt @ 3:07 PM Tue, Dec 11, 2007
Okay. The final scene was shot at the LOCAL DINER on North Beltline in Irving.

Cedric, if we're taking that spoof to be exact to the Sopranos ending it would be Romo that's the hitman. In finale the hitman gets up to go to the bathroom, walks past Tony, and they make eye contact. Then Meadow runs in just before it cuts to black.
Very Much Stupid Ray, just because a joke is old doesn't make it any less funny. And if you want to blame it for being an old joke then blame it on Parcells for never allowing the media to contact his assistants. I thought that was the best Mayne Event they've ever done. Certainly better than the one where they make up more nicknames for Maurice Jones-Drew.

mayne rides the line between funny/stupid. this was a little of both. best part was the cheerleader. can't get enough of the DCC.

Well, we dont REALLY know who the hit man was. You're assuming. But that's the beauty of it. Was it the guy in the bathroom? Was it the two guys that walk in? Was it Cuban? LOL. This is great! Love the Witten shot..lol, genius.

Loved it! This was TRULY an old joke doing new tricks. Applaud Mayne for using the Soprano ending and really showing HBO how stupid that was...
Loved Romo sayin' "Can't end like that!"... LOL
LOVED IT!

I still can't understand this Jason Garrett mania. Sure he has done wonders to Cowboys' offense but is one season enough to catapult someone to a head coaching job? What makes people think he is a good head coaching material anyway? Cam Cameron was the Bolts Offensive coordinator when they went 14-2 last season. Are people seeing what he has managed to do to the Dolphins? Or Sean Payton for that matter. After the first season, with the same kind of talent, Payton is faltering with the NO Saints.
I just don't see the hype.
