Money won't change Ratliff's motor

As a guy who has been singing NT Jay Ratliff's praises for some time, I thought it was a smart move for the Cowboys to give him a five-year, $20.5 million contract.

The thing the Cowboys love most about Ratliff, a converted DE considered small for a NT, is his relentless motor. His football philosophy is simple: Never stop running or fighting before the whistle.

Ratliff, a seventh-round pick out of Auburn, no longer has to prove he belongs in the pros. But he squashed any concerns about money slowing down his motor by having a great game against the Lions, making four tackles (one for loss) and a sack days after cashing his $8 million signing bonus.

Ratliff won't change now that he's rich. He'll still live by the saying his minister father, Ottie, drilled into his head -- and Ratliff repeats every morning and before every game.

"Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might."

We are so blessed to have him here in Dallas. We thought tank would be the diffrence maker. He had him here all along and nobody knew. This is a man with all his priorities straight.
