Terrell Owens' high ankle sprain would seem to put any aspirations of a deep playoff run on hold. At least, that's the way a lot of people would see it. Just don't express those feelings to the Original 81, himself. "The bye week helps, and I have all the confidence in the world this team can win," Owens said. "As you saw tonight, those guys gutted it out. We have some good receivers in Sam Hurd and Miles Austin. Those guys will get it done." As for the seriousness of the injury, T.O. tossed us a bunch of "day-to-day" jargon. But he did allow that he feels that the injury isn't serious, and several people close to him said tonight that the feeling is that he'll be OK. "I know it’s not to the extent of what my first injury was, on the opposite leg," Owens said, referencing the injury he suffered in 2004 with the Eagles. "I’ll be fine, it’s day-to-day." |

What is the meaning of the first sentence?

T.O. will be fine and back as good as new come the plyoffs

This worries me. He sure looked like he was in pain and he is the toughest receiver in the league.

Man, that first sentence sounded like it came from a Patriots fan.

This is bad news for the Cowboys, period. High ankle sprains hardly ever heal quickly. Anthony Henry's recovery has been typical, and he's STILL not 100%. We saw what happened with TO out of the game...not the same offense.

High ankle sprains are very difficult.
Our next important game is in 3 weeks. That would be a spectacular return on a high ankle sprain. In 4 weeks may be the NFC Championship. That too would be an unexpectedly quick return. In 6wweks, if the Cowboys are very good and a little lucky, the Superbowl, and a reasonable chance of seeing a 70% TO.
Bad news folks if the original diagnosis of high ankle sprain is true

I will go on record right now and say no way TO misses the NFC championship game. I could possibly see him missing Dallas' first playoff game, because I think Dallas could still win without him (and with Glenn able to compete). I'd rather take my chances and give him the extra week off anyway.
TO came back a LOT quicker than expected from a broken leg and played a great game against NE in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. And the hand injury he played with last year would have sidelined most receivers. TO's a competitor and wants to be on the field when the big game is on. A lot of people don't like his ego, but the other half of that is he wants and expects to be the superstar. And he DOES work hard for it.
