Newman offended Lions' center

11:50 AM Sat, Dec 08, 2007 |

Terence Newman said his comments about having the cash for a fine if he gets a shot at Jon Kitna were a joke, but Lions center Dominic Raiola isn't laughing.

Raiola, the anchor of a line that has allowed an NFL-high 51 sacks while helping the Lions rank last in the league in rushing, believes Newman's comments crossed the line.

"Who the hell does he think he is?" Raiola, a noted trash talker, told Detroit reporters. "You don't make comments like that in this league."

Yo, Dominic, maybe you should tell that to KITNA!! LOL!

Man, Raiola is certainly doing his best to purpotrate the stereotype that offensive linemen are stupid lardbutts. Newman never said he was going to cheapshot Kitna. He just said that he's got the money to cover any fine that he might get from hitting a QB.

It's not like getting a fine for hitting a QB has never happened. You can't hit them in the head. You can't hit them in their legs. You can't hit them late. You can't slam them to the ground. So yeah, if I was a pass rusher I would also set aside 15-30k for the possibility of a fine.

TNEW was just saying that he had saved some money for a rainy day and Sunday he planned on bringing some.

If I do blitz, all Raiola can do is watch me flash by. Not skeared, cause Raiola can't catch me.

The stereotype for offensive linemen is that they are generally the most intelligent players on a team.

It's probably okay to make up a new stereotype if you're trying to "purpotrate" your point.

Who's Raiola kidding? Every team has at least one person that talks trash on a regular basis. Isn't someone in Pittsburgh guaranteeing a victory against the Pats? TNew only said he had money for a fine. When did he say he was going to cheap-shot Kitna? He could do a lot of things to draw a league fine.

I say, let TNew say what he wants as long as he can back it up. And between Kitna, Raiola, and TNew, my money is on TNew being able to back his talk up.

I know Raiola's In-Laws very well. Two weeks ago he was fined $12K by the team for punching one of his fellow offensive linemen in the face when they got in his face about talking trash to the defense. He is routinely one of the most fined players in the NFL.

I went to college with Raiola at Nebraska. I remember the look on his face the monday after our loss the Sooners, lol. The guy has always been an idiot, who takes himself too seriously-kinda like Tim MacMahan.

Being called a trash talker by Raiola is like being called ugly by a possum.

Truth is it wasn't a very smart thing for Newman to say. You have to know that not only will the NFL be watching closely but the refs are going to be quick with the flag against Dallas for anything close to a late hit, personal foul, etc.

I'm thinking that the only person who should be legitimately offended by these comments is Marcus Trufant!

I believe this 51 sack perpetrator should note his comments back to his QB colleague. And, if he doesn't remember, he has TANK and Ratliff to worry about as Newman is the last of his worries.

With all the talk of Kitna, Newman, etc...didn't anyone stop to think what the SECOND STRING QB for Detroit is feeling right now? I can imagine its this: Man, please don't me in the game as Newman and James will tear me up.

All I can say is: It's ON people!

Why does the self professed "ICON" saint Jimmy feel the need to bolden certain words? Is it because he can? Is it because he thinks he's an "ICON"? Saint Jimmy, I promise, you are your biggest fan. You also make me sick.

Posted by LAW @ 4:14 PM Sat, Dec 08, 2007

I say Newman should go for Kitna's knees and then turn around on the same play and drop kick Railoa in the belly. Now that's worth getting suspended or fined for. I'm funny as hell! lol!!!!Shut 'em up!

Posted by RC @ 6:54 PM Sat, Dec 08, 2007

I am Railoa's uncle. The kid always stirred up someone. I'm about to call him and tell him I will pay him to drop an elbow on Newman's head. See you at the game.

I'm sure Raiola's uncle's salary as a city sanitation worker is more than enough motivation for dumbo Dominic, that is after he's promoted from road-kill collector.

McMahon, I'm sometimes critical of you, but the line, "Raiola, the anchor of a line that has allowed an NFL-high 51 sacks while helping the Lions rank last in the league in rushing..." is priceless. You pretty much sum it up right there. Hey Raiola, you're the captain of the good ship Crapola. Why don't you shut up and block somebody?

Posted by The Fredooch @ 10:02 PM Sat, Dec 08, 2007

Being called a trash talker by Raiola is like Poop telling vomit it stinks!

Posted by David @ 10:39 PM Sat, Dec 08, 2007

If Raiola decided not to block on a play, would it make a noticeable difference?

Other comments Raiola doesn't think belong in this league are

"Is your offensive line really this bad or do we just not understand the blocking schemes?"

"Are you still considered a blocker if you don't block anyone?"

"Raiola is the Lion's best offensive lineman but he is no Matt Lehre."

"QBs usually buy their offensive linemen gifts. What do you think Jon will buy you for Christmas?"

Posted by StarInWV @ 7:00 AM Sun, Dec 09, 2007

Raiola, are you a Lions offensive lineman, or are you retarded?
