![]() ERICH SCHLEGEL / DMN As Pete mentioned below, we've got full coverage of the gala event last at the Gaylord Texan celebrating the Original 81's 34th birthday. And if you look at the way he's performed this year, it's clear this wasn't any brass-ring affair, and no golden parachute looks like it's in the offing. Check the numbers. T.O.'s got 71 catches for 1,249 yards (17.6 avg.) and 14 touchdowns. That projects to 95 catches for 1,665 yards and 19 TDs. The yardage total would be the seventh best single-season number of all-time. With a big game this week, Owens could become the oldest receiver ever to post a 1,400-yard season, and that'd be with three games left. If Owens manages to haul in 19 touchdown passes -- which would mean catching five in his next four games -- the number could be second all-time, behind only the 22 Jerry Rice put up in 1987. We say "could" because that Moss guy in the Boston 'burbs already has 17. Remarkable? It sure is. And no matter what you might think of T.O., it's got to be a testament to the work he's put in to all of this. Simply, this stands be the greatest season by a receiver of Owens' age in NFL history. What we've done here is put together two lists. The first is a list of Hall of Famers. There are 18 modern-era receivers in Canton. Twelve of them played to the age of 34. So listed below is the season members of that dozen had in the calendar year they turned 34: Raymond Berry, 1967 Colts: 11 rec., 167 yds. (15.2 avg.), 1 TD Now, since the list above included plenty of guys who were from a "different age" and the passing-game standards have changed, I came up with a second list. Rice in the only player in the Top 10 all-time in receptions that is in the Hall. Owens tied Irving Fryar (who had a remarkable season of 88 catches for 1195 yards and 11 TDs at the age of 34) for 10th with his final catch against the Giants on Nov. 11, and passed him with his first catch the next week against the Redskins. Against the Jets, he passed Jimmy Smith to move to ninth all-time, which is up from 18th at the start of the year. That leaves eight non-Hall of Famers in the Top 10. Here's how they did in the year they turned 34: Tim Brown, 2000 Raiders: 76 rec., 1128 yds. (14.8 avg.), 11 TD So you have guys who've got a boatload of catches, but the fact that Owens has maintained that high per-catch average, and is scoring as much as he is, is what's really incredible here. Can he keep it up? Time will tell. But for now, the old man at split end sure isn't playing like one. |

owens is a beast still at age 34!! thats remarkable for a guy that age. but owens is a specially gifted with size and speed. and there isn't alot of recievers in this league that has that type of attributes he has. the only thing that can prevent him from putting up those types of numbers in the future is his health. the older you get the more prone to injury you get. love him or hate him the original 81 is still a beast!!

With all things being of slight equeal, the detrimate climta of said city, would signify a gap between the 2 protons at work here. The thinner the polyteck, the lighter the sigundrifator, hence a much more adapt combination. This combination will enhance the outer layer, and thus a heavier cortex

Looks like someone plagiarized a fictional book.

I want him to stay in Dallas for the next three years, easy.
I'm more worried about Glenn, with his knee problem, than I am about Owens.
I just hope Owens doesn't decide to go after even more money elsewhere.
This team, as constituted, especially when we get Deion Anderson back next year, along with Ferguson, and our new draft picks, will be in an even STRONGER position for a Super Bowl run than this team is.
And this team IS going to the Super Bowl.
We could EASILY be looking at BACK TO BACK Super Bowl appearances.
Even a THREE PEAT return to the Super Bowl.
I'm not predicting victory, {though I DO think our team will defeat New England}. But we are in an excellent position to make return journeys.
That's not a stretch by any stretch of the imagination.
