SportsDay had a meeting last week to start planning our Super Bowl coverage, but I reckon it'd be wise to take 'em one game at a time. Here are some sensationalizable potential storylines for the Cowboys' playoff opener. NY Giants: It really isn't tough to stir stuff up between NFC East rivals that really don't like each other. Eli Mannings is always an easy target, and we could revisit Brandon "Big Mouth" Jacobs' season-opening bulletin-board material. Would Tony Romo light up the Giants' D for a third time this season? Tampa Bay: T.O. vs. Garcia!!! Joey Galloway has produced in Tampa Bay like Jerry thought he would for the Cowboys when he gave up two first-round picks. Seattle: Tony Romo will have to rehash the Seattle Slip no matter what, but just imagine if the Cowboys get a rematch with the Seahawks. Comparing CBs Marcus Trufant (injured last season) and Terence Newman would be fun after Jon Kitna's comments. FS Ken Hamlin would probably be might motivated to play his old team, which made no attempt to re-sign him. Minnesota: Could make a strong argument that the Vikings are the scariest possible opponent. Tarvaris Jackson, who was horrible in the loss to the Cowboys, has morphed into a game-managing machine during Minnesota's four-game winning streak. And Adrian Peterson/Chester Taylor form the league's top tailback tandem. New Orleans: Sean Payton and Drew Brees get another shot at the defense (sort of) that they shredded last season. Washington: Well, the Redskins would have to beat the Cowboys in the regular-season finale to make this happen. And Santana Moss vs. the Cowboys' secondary is always scary. |

Giants - Cowboys won't beat a team 3 times in the same year (remember 99 versus Cards?)
Bucs - Garcia owns the Cowboys
Saints - they would light us up
Seahawks - would like a rematch but think we could lose
Vikings - If Tavaris Jackson were to beat the Cowboys, it would be pathetic
Green Bay - well - what can I say expect I see us not making the NFC Championship

So Joe are we just writing off the season for losing our 2nd game of the season.
Giants - Just lost their 2nd best weapon in Shockey
Bucs - not even going to comment
Saints - No running attack
Seahags - Can't beat the Panthers with a practice squad throwaway from our training camp
Vikings - Cowboys can beat them, but this is the one team I am most somewhat worried about
Green Bay - We are beating them again. I guess you missed the Green Bay game when Favre was in the game.

Joe Realist, you are sound like some bandwagon Cowboy's fan that comes on to these blogs. Did I mention you sound like a "hater" as well?
Giants - "Cowboys won't beat a team 3 times in the same year (remember 99 versus Cards?)" Are you serious? In case you haven't heard, Shockey has a broken leg and is out for the season. That leaves, Roy Williams to cover a RB or some scrub TE. Please, they do not scare me nor the Cowboys. As long as the O-line plays up to the standards they have played this year, we can and WILL defeat them. '99 against Arizona? Do you remember who the head coach was?
Bucs - Stop the pass and we will be fine. I think the Front 7 can handle Earnest Graham and whoever else they are trying to play off the streets to play RB. We can and will lite up this team.
Saints - No Bush, no McAllister. Hmm....I don't think you have been watching much football this year. And yes, they lit up the defense, LAST YEAR. This is Wade's D now, not mentor Parcells.
Seahawks - I will agree with you here, this could be a good matchup. But I still think the 'Boys win.
Vikings - Agree with you here as well.
GB - Your statement proves you are a hater. GB, does not scare me, unless we play in WI. Hopefully, Chicago kicks some @$$ next week.

Joe Realist you crack me up. However, there are not any playoff teams in the NFL that can be taken lightly. The only thing that worries me about this team is slow starts and lack of intensity on offense in the opening minutes. When they can get off the blocks quickly they can outrun just about anyone. It really was good to see the defense keep them in the game for so long with the offenses worst outing this season.

It seems everyone is jumping on the Vikings bandwagon because they have won four in a row. But bear in mind the four opponents in their streak: Oakland, N.Y. Giants, Detroit, and San Francisco. The Giants are a fairly competitive team out that list, but the other three?

"Garcia owns the boys?"
Is this the same Garcia that played for Cleveland a few years ago? Uhm, I think his QB rating that day was a 0.0. Yeah, he owned them that day. And don't bring up games in 2001, when Dallas sucked.
I think Joe Realist needs to date that girl from Saturday Night Live, Debbie Downer.

Guys - thanks for your commentary. Much of what I post here is for amusement only. I do love the COWBOYS. I am not a hater, I just am very concerned that we may not be as good as our record indicates and that the players and coaches will brush this off as one bad game.
The last 4 December's have been brutal and I believe that we must win the next 2 games to get home field as I think Green Bay will not lose. The Cowboys have a history of losing the final week of the season.
Don't forget - when we played Green Bay, they were w/o some key players on defense and they went away from their normal game plan early.
So, in closing, I hope the players are healthy and Romo stays away from his women until after the season

Hmm...Man o man, such negativeness for the Boys after this game, come on losers. Yeah, it was a bad game but hey after our first loss, the Cowboys went on a SEVEN GAME WIN streak and played some pretty good ball during that stretch. Me, I'm betting that the Cowboys get their game together and start this roll again. We're in the tournament, WITH a 1st round bye and possible home field thru the playoffs.
But I'm hopin that the teams playing the Cowboys come-in thinking we're gonna lay down easier than JS . . .
BUT JUST KNOW THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN !!

The Cowboy's defense is one of the worst in the league. They will not stop any playoff team. I guess we should enjoy that miracle win against the terrible Lions team, as it will probably be our last of the year.

Joe Realist,
I somewhat agree with you, believe it or not.
The Boys can easily beat and lose to anyone.
NFC east teams scare me as they know us and they always play us tough.
I am afraid that we beat Carolina, and somehow get beat in Washington.
That leaves us in the harder 2nd seed role and even a win in the divisional round is going to be hard.

Championship will go through Lambeau. This will be a great test for Cowboys, two road games, a little beaten, mostly the egos. Without Williams... no big deal. The second game against Washington will be tougher. JJ can not will his team to win and thats a lot of pressure for a young QB who can not handle it for 60 minutes much less two weeks.
