Practice report

Right tackle Marc Colombo practiced again on Friday with tape on his left ankle. He didn't have much of a limp.
"He said he slept good," Wade Phillips said of Colombo.
Cowboys will watch Colombo closely on Sunday against Detroit. Pat McQuistan is the backup for Colombo.

Cornerback Anthony Henry also practiced but he will not start Sunday in Motown. Jacques Reeves gets the start.

Beautiful weather in Valley Ranch. Temps in the 70s. Wow. Players were in shells in case you care.

A comment that was impossible to post yesterday:

Looks like their still jacking around with the unreadable CRAPcha code, during prime time I would add.
Any other IT department would require off-line testing and after midnight installation.
DMN must not have any quality assurance group as it appears ad-hoc malfunctioning changes just keep getting worse.

Let's talk about technical jargon instead of Cowboys football... AWESOME!

Blue Zone, I hate the captcha scheme too, and DMN hasn't exactly done a bang-up job in implementing it, but I haven't found the captchas to be unreadable. I'm using Firefox, and I've tested it in Internet Explorer 7, and in both cases I can read the characters.

What is making it unreadable for you: the background or the lines and blots that are put in to partially obscure the patterns from bots? If it's the background, your resolution or the colors might not be set at an optimum level.

I'm starting to wonder if Henry's limited play is helping him recover? Perhaps he should just sit because he WILL be needed in the playoffs. Personally I'd rather Colombo sit out this week as well.

The technical difficulties don't seem to be getting much better here on the blog.

Do you know the reason Wafe does his Friday conference before pracyice instead of after when there might be something new to report?

I agree with Chris in Denton. Henry needs to sit and get his ankle right. We are good enough to win most games without him, but we need a healthy Newman and Henry for the playoffs and the superbowl.

Can someone tell me why the Cowboys haven't adapted to a Nickel D primarily yet? They already have all the pieces in place. All of their LBs can't pass cover for crap and their best S plays better run coverage than their LBs. Why not bring in a fifth DB (Anthony Henry) & call him another FS (Sort of like Cover 2). Then take advantage of Roy Williams' abilities and have him act as a ghost. Use a 3 LB(Ware, James, Ellis), 3 DL(Spears, Ratliff, Canty) setup and you'll reap all the benefits. Put 5 on the line and rush 3, 4, or 5. You'll not only have the fastest S/LB in the league who puts the hurt on EVERYBODY, but also quite possibly making a MAJOR improvement to your pass defense without sacrificing the run. Thank You!

This is a good time to talk about what a great story Colombo is. A former first round pick, his NFL career was on life support after severe injuries. We picked him up, let him work himself into health (and, by all accounts, he worked his @ss off), and now he is a solid, good player for us. He has filled the RT position admirably, which had been a weakness for us for years. He's a big contributor on what has been an outstanding offensive line. Did y'all see how Favre was getting pounded while Romo stood in the pocket with ease last week?
