Simpson's host says don't blame her

5:20 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007 |
Tim MacMahon   E-mail   News tips

DMN gossip hound Alan Peppard chatted with beer bigwig Barry Andrews, who hosted the Simpson clan in his luxury suite yesterday. Andrews thinks Tony Romo's thumb had more to do with him stinking up the joint than the Curse of Blonde Beauties.

Sure, pal. Care to explain why Romo was worse in the first half?

Hey Tim...What was Tony's stat line for the Packers game?

Here's a juicy little nugget, do you know that Jessica also attended that one! Now drop the BS please.

Posted by Ken @ 5:33 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

I second this request. People who blame Jessica Simpson for what happened have no business watching football or even driving a car.

Posted by incognito @ 5:34 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Dave, if you don't like the "BS", then tear your @ss on to the Eagle's blog. You have a choice Dave. Utilize it.

Get rid of yoko ono

Tell Beer belly to keep that blonde bimbo away from Texas Stadium, better yet out of the state of Texas. Put her on the fist plane out of Dallas with a specific orders of never returning. I don't think Romo understands the magnitude of his decison to date that hollywood bimbo. Tony get your priorities straight. The football is the only thing you should be dating right now.

Here's why Romo should dump this publicity-hound and her domineering father: two years ago she was in Dan Snyder's box with Nick, cheering on the Redskins. Next year, she could be with Eli Manning. You've got the whole offseason to chase these bimbos, but a special Super Bowl season like this doesn't come around often (just ask the Bears from last year).

Posted by Teddy @ 5:44 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Why? Jessica did not play the game. If Romo was distracted by her presence, it is his fault, not Jessica's. There is no doubt Romo and the entire offense were not well prepared including the coaches. Remember the offense played pretty well last time against Eagles even though they got huge help from the defense (I think the first TD was setup by a fumble recovery, and the defense created other turn overs too). They might think Eagles was a lousy team now. As a 5-8 team, some of the players might think Eagles would throw in the towels.

Posted by Sharris @ 5:44 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Jessica Simpson and her Dad should be part of the blame for Tony's bad playing. Maybe he is understanding that her Dad wants her with whomever is making the National news of the month. Just look back of the many she has been with this year. John Mayer for one when he had a new album coming out. It seems to me Tony never smiled or joke around like he normally does, so something was not good before the game. Maybe he is getting it and sees he is being used. She was on national tv alot and is still making news. That is was most celebrities want. Good or bad

Posted by Joe (not the first one) @ 6:10 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

You Simpson apologists just don't read, do you? It wasn't the fact that she was there, so stop defending an accusation that nobody's seriously making and address the real issue. Read the blogs - the accusation is that it's the jet-setting, partying, distracting and physically draining playboy/Hollywood lifestyle that drained Romo from full mental and physical strength for this game. There is no other explanation for his game being that bad. If there is another explanation, let's hear it or shut up.

Posted by DJ @ 6:17 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

To: Joe (not the first one).

I agree. Romo should show some commitment to his teammates and the guy who just gave him a 67M contract and focus on this season--not running around the country with some "star"let.

Posted by RICH WHITE MAN @ 6:19 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Romo played like warmed over crap. Big deal. Did everyone expect him to play every game 23 for 26, 5 TD's, with a 131 pass rating? Sure, it would be nice, butr IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN! GET OVER IT.

Posted by Tod @ 6:19 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

So Joe - was Romo just partying, jet-setting, etc. only in this week? Because he was great before this week. Does that make any sense? NO.

It was one bad game - made worse by an injury midway through. I don't know why people bother to talk about this stupid crap.

Posted by Hap @ 6:24 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

The Jessica factor. That's STILL our blog material ?(read what Dave had to say).
I am just disappointed we couldn't score 13 points.
Don't disappoint me again.
Think all those "experts" that have Jason Garrett leaving will have him put that game on his resume ?

Posted by bill @ 7:14 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Who cares who hes dating? One problem with the Cowboys doing well is that it brings the idiots out. If anyone thinks that this woman had anything to do with Romo playing like crap is just plain stupid. We'd have to blame every wife and girlfriend for anyone who had a bad game. The problems started about 5 weeks ago, and the trend has to stop at carolina or this playoff may be really short!

Posted by tony romeo @ 7:20 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Tony Sacks Jessica, Philly Sacks Romo, T.O. Sacked Philly. Circle is complete

Posted by Jerry Robertson @ 8:29 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

I agree with Bill. People blaming Jessica is stupid. How many of the stupid posters have a bad day at work because of a mamber of the opposite sex. Guess, they should not be with them except during their vacation. I just can't believe how stupid some people are. Who had the Cowboys at 12-2 at this point? No one even the players on the team. If Tony plays bad this weekend or next, their is cause for concern.

The colts lost 4 of their last 7 last year including a 44-17 thrashing. It didn't seem to get in the way of the Super Bowl.

Posted by Ashley @ 9:44 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

If you expect your QB to be stellar every game, you will be dissapointed. Did Michael Jordan make every shot? Did Tiger Woods win every hole? Did Troy Aikman never have an off day? Did Hulk Hogan..well you get the point right? Lets see how Tony plays in the next two weeks before we start asking to cut his balls off.

Posted by Joan66 @ 10:20 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

All those starlets? look the same to me. Tons of makeup lots of blond hair goofy looks etc. She just wants the publicity.

Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 10:35 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

I don't care one way or another, but did she have to disgrace the Cowboy jersey by wearing a pink one?

Posted by chris @ 10:48 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Employers do not want you bringing your personal problems to work. JS being at the game didn't lose the game for the Cowboys. Something was bothering Tony before the game ever started. No smile. No excessive talking. He was off before the game. Did it have to do with JS or his parents who knows what transpired before kickoff.
Tony brought that to work and he had an unproductive day. He'll be better next Saturday.

Posted by r @ 11:00 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

agree..Tony looked lethargic before the game..no energy from him at all..just like the Bills game...no joking around or smiling and having a good time

Posted by Red @ 11:05 PM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

Is it just a coincidence that Tony Romo's two lowest passer ratings were with Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson attending the games? GETR OUT OF HERE!

Posted by Haylie @ 1:46 AM Tue, Dec 18, 2007

I hope Tony is okay. Its true, before kickoff, he wasn't the same happy, smiling goofball we have known to love. Something was the matter and I hope whatever it was, it got fixed.

Ya'll need to get your facts straigh...

Josh Morgan, Tyler, Texas: All right, just like I said yesterday, ESPN is blaming Tony Romo's bad performance on the distraction of Jessica Simpson. I also saw Jessica sitting in a box behind my seat at the Jets and Packers games on Thanksgiving and the Thursday after. Of course the cameras didn't spot her in those games when Romo played well.

Why can't we expect our QB to play perfect every game? Tom Brady does, and he's also "distracted" impregnating supermodels... heeehee. Romo should be able to have babies with Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson at the same time, and lead the Boys to a perfect record season.

Just kidding! My real thoughts are that the kid had a bad game, let's all get over it and move on. If anything, hopefully Jessica will distract him from feeling too down about it, and he'll be able to move past it next week.

Craig T hit the nail on the head, for just a few months, especially after last years Seattle disaster Romo should stop paying attention to the little brain, the bimbo is a distraction, us talking about it is a distraction and whether anyone likes it or not, he is human and it will and does affect his play. For the money he's making don't tell me, it's cruel for him to just concentrate on football, it will be over soon, but it will be over a lot sooner than anyone wants as long as he's with the bimbo and her totally weirdo father...something sick there.

Posted by Gil McIlwain @ 6:51 PM Tue, Dec 18, 2007

Romo needs to get his mind on what his job is, winning, not partying around and jet setting, there will be plenty of time for that in the off season. He is being paid plenty to do his job, so Tony, don~t be a fool, Roger and Troy handled it right and did not let their team and fans down. Get in the game dammit.
