The Cowboys are off Friday, but don't expect to find T.O. checking out Blonde Ambition during its opening day in Texas theaters. He's not joking when he says that Jessica Simpson is screwing up Tony Romo's focus. "Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," T.O. said. "I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she's probably taking his focus away. "Other than that, she was at the top of my list until last week." Romo didn't make his usual Wednesday appearance in the locker room, so we didn't have a chance to get his reply to T.O.'s concern about Ms. Simpson. And T.O. isn't done dealing with her, either. "I've got a message for her when we make the playoffs," T.O. said. "Just stay tuned." |

Pretty Funny guy that T.O. At least scouts inc has put our Dallas QB in the top 4 (See the rankings on another website). Unlike some of our blog writers who like Vince Young more - he is ranked 15.
What happened to T.O. coming out of the backfield. I liked that play .. he would go in motion, only saw it a couple times, but it looked like it always worked.

T.O. Owens loves popcorn. Why wouldn't he go see her movie?

Can we sign Jessica for Roy Williams? Can't be any worse!!

I can always tell a "little Timmy" blog contribution (if you want to call it that) by the headline and I really can't believe people are still talking about her having anything to do with the outcome of that game. Way to go Timmy asking T.O. those hardcore football questions!
They lost, it happens. She's been there before when he played great. Quick, someone throw a black cat on Timmys desk or set a ladder near it that he would have to walk under it so we can keep him at bay and away from the blog!

We need more information...has this whole thing gotten into Romo's head? Is it an actual problem in the locker room? GIVE IS THE SCOOP!
Posted by Mondo @ 1:00 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Will one of you writers tell T.O. that he needs to lose the phrase 'other than that'?.
He used it, what, 80 times on the Eagles conference call?
Its worth than Emmitt's 'and so forth'.
Posted by 666 @ 1:04 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
You have to be a little concerned with the entire teams focus what with the Jessica thing and the Roy Williams thing.
Hopefully none of it has caused or will cause any problems but folks, its aint good news.
I just have a hard time believing that Romo has let himself be distracted by his personal life at such a critical time of the season - but even if he has - he has time to make amends and I believe he will. He is a good man.
Posted by Juston @ 1:04 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
I'm sure a banged up throwing hand didn't have anything to do with the timing or accuracy of his passes. I would rather have the scoop on how his hand is doing. Who cares if she's at the game or not. A girl like Jessica is never far from a guys mind!
Posted by A-Cast @ 1:05 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
I don't like the sound of this. T.O. is up to something and it sounds like it might backfire. This is no time to be playing "put the spotlight on me" games with the playoffs right around the corner. PLEASE STAY FOCUSED, COWBOYS

I hope all of this is a joke...and did Romo really no show?
Posted by MM @ 1:15 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
My buddies and I discussed this and Romo is no different than any other guy. You can't focus on your work (the game) when your dating any hot piece of ---. It consumes you, you wondering and questioning everything, are we getting together after the game? You have to have a clear head and be able to separate your personal life from your job (the game), maybe he can or is. This might help you Tony, when we start losing she'll be looking for another quarterback.

Tim's like the anti-Albert.
Albert comes to the table with great information, analysis and substance. He brings the meat and potatoes every time.
Tim comes to the table with either the blatantly obvious or trivial fluff. He brings the bag full of cotton candy.
I hope they are being paid accordingly.
Posted by Craig T @ 1:19 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
I hope the rest of the team is advising Romo to concentrate on footbal and leave the Hollywood jet setting to the off season. Someone needs to tell Romo to get his priorities straight.

I don't blame Jessica Simpson or Tony Romo. Its her DAD! He is the biggest PIMP around and he is always trying to set up his daughter with some dude for a quick promo and/or marketing ploy. T.O. needs to come out and bash her father. Tim, the next question to T.O. should be, "what message do you have for Jessica Simpson's Dad?" T.O. might even put a picture of Jessica on his Touchdown Towels he sells on his website.

MM is right. It's like Spock when he had that 7 yr itch to mate...he had to go back to Vulcan no matter what and ended duking it out with Kirk. All consuming, like a salmon. I can see Romo shaking like a leaf, with his eyes rolling in the back of his head. Good for T.O. trying to help Tony snap out of it.
Posted by Dee @ 1:31 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Romo's a grown man I think he knows how to keep his personal life seperate from his work life. It's normal for him to have a bad game they all do at times.
Posted by Jon @ 1:32 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Oh good, the team is buying into the media hype too. Instead of working on their problems, they're probably spending their practices doing a intervention trying to get Romo to dump his girlfriend. That'll fix everything.
This is getting ridiculous. And embarrassing. Let it go.
Posted by steve @ 1:32 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
He's been "hanging" with her for over a year. Family members from the Simpson family were guests of Romo at the Arizona game last
year.

There's another report out that that TO said this in a total joking manner...and he had the media around him laughing and everything. This is just the case of the Morning News trying to make a story out of nothing. Don't blow this up.
Posted by Miguel @ 1:38 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
The guys on ESPN are idiots, John Raddigan and Matt Mosley. They take things and run with it and try to pin things on T.O. They think they finally got something on T.O. The guy was freaking joking. Calvin Watkins has been trying to find something and when he got on the radio he tried to embellish this whole stupid story. You guys are mudslingers. The guys on ESPN radio were just tearing in to T.O. and when Bill Jones gets on the radio and tells them that T.O. was grinning the whole time, just playing around, they back off. Mudslingers.

Did you point out to TO that Dallas has ALREADY made the playoffs?
The only thing Dallas doesn't have is home field throughout the playoffs.
Posted by notahater @ 1:44 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Jennifer, I'm with you...though not so much PO'd. There's a higher noise ratio on the blog lately since the Cowboys have had a couple of dubious performances in a row. But most fans are total knee-jerk. Roy's not an All Pro, but he's *no worse* than top half of the SS in the NFL. His contract doesn't matter. His draft position doesn't matter any more. His alma matter doesn't matter any more. Jessica isn't the downfall of Romo. They've dated a lot longer than the last 2 weeks, and as the man said, Romo certainly showed up on Thanksgiving when she attended the game.
People need to step away from the panic button, drink less coffee, whatever it is that make them go apesh!t when the team doesn't perform. Cowboys have a first round bye and home field for one game already and are STILL in the driver's seat for NFC Championship home field. Yet people act like the sky is falling. Last week was an acorn, folks.
Posted by ap @ 1:55 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Continuing with notahater's observations...
Many new names with doomsday predictions have been posting since the lack-luster performances in the last two games.
Many women (with split opinions) have been posting since the whole "estrogen-is-screwing-with-romo's-mind" angle was presented.
Many caps-lock verbal-warfare-type messages have been popping up since Roy's controversial horse collar occured.
The sky is not falling. The team is not imploding. Make plans to watch Cowboy playoff games in January. And if you hear a report on ESPN or this blog, try and check out the context in which it was presented before you make up your mind...you'd be surprised. Also keep in mind that every single time you click "refresh" on this page, someone at DMN makes more money.

T.O., the media types and idiotic fans are too dumb for words!!!! Do you think insulting Tony's gf is going to help him focus. I am more upset with all of the attacks on Simpson than the poor performance Sunday. Tony will most likely be even more distracted and pissed after all of this.

Bill Parcells, in his top 10 (12?) rules to follow if you want to be a star quartback, his #1 rule was "No celebrity QBs around here"... It basically means, whatever you do off the field, don't give the media any fuel that will create a distracting situation... which is obviously what has happened here.

Right on T.O.
Joe Simpson and his talentless daughter are only intersted in the photo op. They could not care less about the effort the team has made this whole entire season.
Any female who purks up her boobs when she realizes the camera is on her does not have the maturity to keep low when she needs to. Also, this girl is so narcisictic that she was waving to him DURING the game. What in Gods name does she think this is? High school football?

You know, who says there is a girl problem here...just Cowboy fans and the press. So a guy has a bad game, so did the running backs AND the wide recievers. There was no running game and there were some dropped passes. Did anybody consider that maybe he was playing for his dad that day who made a game after a long medical bout? And who amoung you wants to butt in on Romo's personal life, does he butt in on yours? Or maybe the womwn and men who are being critical of Ms Simpson are jeaolous bcause the ladies can't have Romo and you guys don't have anyone at home who looks like her. TO's comments are personal and he should keep them to himself, his performance Sunday on his actions alone are doubtful. Or maybe because it were the Eagles that beat Dallas???? And you just can't stand that?

The only thing that should concern a Cowboys fan is the abandonment of the run. If we come out running the ball on Saturday, I will be happy and satisfied that our coaches have learned from their mistake. Its been a few weeks since we have committed to running 20-25 times. Run the ball, then see how the receivers get open.
Romo did play poorly and it was not because of his thumb (and probably not because of Simpson either). But he needs to bounce back next week. This loss is good. Because it better remind the coaches that Marion the Barbarian is a weapon that needs to be used. Rather have learned it last week than in our first playoff game.

Posted by Scott in SA @ 2:46 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
The fact that our coaches do not game plan against opposing coaches was a much bigger factor than what skeezer Romo brought to the game. How we are unable to beat the "mystifying" defensive scheme of a 70 year old coordinator in Jim Johnson is beyond me. Our coaches were also suprised when Detroit ran the ball. Teams know how good we are, so they are going to try and even the playing field by throwing us for a loop. Look for Matt Moore to throw this week...A LOT! And look for our coaches to be surprised.
Posted by notahater @ 2:52 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Great, our award winning columnists have awoken the Eagles and Packers fans. Eagles fans: go look at the standings and go back to sleep. Your coach runs a drug ring and your quarterback sucks and probably won't even be there next year because of all the venom you spewed towards him when he didn't suck as much. But please continue to hate us for getting the best WR in the NFL from you for FREE! Cheesehead fools: if they have Tivo in your third world country of a state, go ahead and replay the last game between Dallas and GB. In fact, go ahead and replay any game your Over the Hill QB has ever played at Texas Stadium. Also, look at that Bears game. Nice performance by your QB there, too. And when you get back to the public library where the one computer in the state is located, check who's at the top of the NFC standings before you talk about where the Championship game will be played.
Btw, Roy still doesn't suck and Jessica is still hot.

Let's have her coming to every game so we can break this thing once and for all. Let's get back to some good ol Cowboys football and focus on winning out from here.
Posted by Jeff @ 3:24 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
I have a question about football, not knockers. Between the 2 players involved, which has had more bad games this season? How many times has Romo OD'd? Having your focus questioned by TO is like being called ugly by an ape.

It would help if our new franchise QB would come forward and admit to the distraction. Tony is a professional football QB who is still adjusting. Learn from the mistake and move forward.

Ever wonder why there are as many football fans that hate the Cowboys as there that like the Cowboy's? Take note:
You are 12 - 2, should have lost another 5 games and should be out of the playoffs sitting on 7 - 7, that said you are in the playoffs and are having a great season.
Then you drop one game and the whining starts. The worst part is you try and blame the loss in Jessica Simpson---tell TO to shut up and catch the ball and things will improve. I do however hope the reason you lost was Jessica, that shows how weak you really are and will be "one and out" in the playoffs!
Posted by sheila @ 3:59 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Jessica or not, the Cowboys are not good enough to make it to the Super Bowl. Seattle, Green Bay and even New Orleans are better and more representative of the NFC than they are.

Jessica S. was also at the Green Bay game, but since it wasn't Romo's worst ever, I guess no one noticed. I'm a Dallas Cowboys fanatical fan for life, but geez folks - get a freaking grip. It's not her fault - it was the team's!

You guys must have strong thighs that come from jumping on and off the bandwagon so often. I'll take ole #4 from south Mississippi in TX stadium next month when it really counts. He's a big boy, come on it's a girl for gosh sakes. I mean seriously. He had a bad game that's all there is to it, it wasn't anybody's fault but his own. Why is everyone so quick to blame a woman when she wasn't even the one playing! Romo is a professional if he can't handle a woman watching him then he needs to be the one to say something.
Obviously T.O. wants to create more drama in the locker room. How is his statement to the media going to make things better? It's only going to make things worse. So much for teammates being like a family. What a jerk!

I think every Cowboy player should really look at what is being said about Tony and Jessica, because I was at the game alot of players helped the game wasn't just tony along. When you have something going on in your own life you telling me that when there is a death,Sickness,in trouble with the law, there are alot of players that has wifes and they could be Divorceing, kids. So think about this when someone says Tony or any other players have a really screwed up game.It wasn't won because the offense wasn't doing that good and things happen that has i'm sure has messed up game also.T.O. is a great player but he hasn't done well alot of times.I love the Cowboys and I'm a fan for about 20 so I'm not sure it's good to assume It was Jessica.I love the Cowboys wether than win or lose say.Season Ticket holder. But when your a team you all win it's everyone it great,But when you a team player or not the hold teams gets the Blame.Jan Wood

Okay so let me get this straight. T.O blames Jessica Simpson for Romo's poor performance?? Man I just hope Jessica gets it together in time for the playoffs heaven forbids she goes out and have another performance like the one she had on Sunday!!

Hello,
Concerning the topic:" T.O. gives Jessica Simpson a thumbs down. I feel that Jessica Simpson and any other woman/girlfriend/wife should encourage her guy to do his very best on the Football Field, before He gets out there to be a play maker. No one, and that goes for any titles attached, should be a distraction to any of the coaches/players/team. Each player, not just for the Cowboys team, but all NFL teams, should focus as T. said, on the game and be determined to WIN, even though, 1 of the teams will lose. But know that you all are winners. The Cowboys should be focused on the last 2 games/playoffs/SuperBowl, because women come dime a dozen, just like distractions (women), if you are not focused. And as for motives, each woman knows what she is after and if it is not lasting and just money/sex, the Lord knows more and will remove it, to get Man's(football players) attention. You all are paid to play the game and focus because this is your career you are talking about. Don't let a distraction supercede your goal achievement in reaching success in the game called NFL Football. You are too blessed to not focus.

This is the best thing T.O. has ever said! Romo needs to take a look at why Troy Aikmen was such a great QB. Because he put his love life on hold until he retired!! Maybe you should think about that Tony.

Von V:
"Wonder why Packer fans are universally considered the dumbest fans in all of sports".
Where did I say I was a Packer fan? Actually I grew up as a Colts fan, but since I live in Houston (and worked in Dallas until I couldn't stand it anymore), it just goes to show how you guys in The Largest City in Oklahoma work (hint-and while I'm not referring to Denton, for the rest of Tejas, it does start with a (BIG) D). Yes, I'm quite aware that the NFC and AFC elect Pro Bowl participants separately--I was mearly pointing out the top three screw-ups from this year's process. But in the interst of your NFC bias (ignoring the main point of 11 'Boys on the NFC roster is JUST WRONG), maybe you should consider # 12 in N'Orleans. Bret and Tony both deserve to be in on the NFC side in my view
By the way, maybe Jerry was "not focused" last week since he seemed to spend considerable time in stealing a coach from his fellow NFL owner in Hot-lanta for NW Arkansas----sorry, Fayetteville. Shouldn't you blame him as the GM?
whoo-pig-sooie (or however Deliverance spells it)
Enjoy Jessica's acne medicine ads

Hmmm, bed down Simpson, or win a game, no brainer...for one night

Sheila,......Sounds to me you don't know the first thing about football. Cowboys are #1, and are America's team. Our stats says it all. If you think New Orleans, Seattle, or Greenbay is better, than go move to their state, get out of Texas and quit trying to diss my team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Boy Tony will do a real number on the Panthers this Saturday, bum thumb and all, even without any girlfriend assistance.

Our Boy Tony will do a bang-up job this Saturday, even with a bum thumb, and with or without any girlfriend inspiration.

For the first time aince he came to Dallas I agree with T.O. Romo was not at all focused on what he was doing Sunday. He was to busy trying to show off. The Cowboys have come this far because all of them have been focused.
Tony's personal life is his personal life and he needs to leave it at home. Just like all the rest of us do everyday. Being the Cowboy's quarter back is his job and he needs to treat it like that.
After all he gets paid to be focused and we pay our money to see him play that way

This is supposed to be a PROFFESIONAL football team. What place do "The Enquirer" and "People"style comments have in the critique of a ball game? The Eagles whupped Dallas' butt on Sunday, and that's all.
Posted by Tod @ 6:09 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Yeah, Tony should just concentrate on the game. Furthermore, all players who are married should leave their wives - you can't focus on football while married! Forget kids too. It is impossible to concentrate on football while having something else going on in your life!
I can't believe how stupid fans can be...
Posted by Bill @ 6:16 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
You guys lost to Philly, you didn't even score a touchdown! Your center and quarterback got hurt and now you are blaming the loss on Jessica Simpson? What's the next thing that's going down in Dallas...
Posted by fred @ 6:19 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
It's a good thing Charlie Waters had already retired when Troy was playing..

10-6 is hardly a butt whooping LRol. Obviously TO made those comments in a joking manner...but the media just loves to go wild on stupid stuff.

Romo's staying abreast of Simpson's assets. What, me worry?
Posted by Dr. Bombay @ 6:55 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
Imagine, just for the sake of it, Landry's reaction? What if Joey Heatherton had been hanging from a stadium booth pulling for her boy Lance Rentzel (at least in Lance's early days). Would this not be one of Tom's hatred distractions? Romo and his mojo got burned on this deal. Maybe he should have thought about this ahead of time. In the drive to the the championship, nothing should overshadow the team and what it has to do. If we have to pan to shots of some starlet in the sky booths, then something has gone wrong. Dr. Bombay

T.O. my hero.
You said exactly what I told friends and family. Tony Romo just can't concentrate when Jessica is around. I am surprised he is dating her. She has no talent and all she is looking for is ANYONE who will get her in the spotlight. Her father is her agent ...he introduced her to Tony. Now she has her picture on every magazine. I truly hope Romo will ditch her before it is too late!!!!!

By the 3rd quarter, I was wondering which one was wearing the pink "9"

Tony Romo do your damn job and that's it. Leave your flavor of the week at home!!!Jessica Simpson is a complete talentless ditz and a moroon and she should be banned from texas stadium nobody is a fan of hers!!! Stay away!!!!

This is not even a story. It is a press dream for unwanted and un-needed crap. This is not real journalism or sports info. I dont know why the Morning News would even use the ink for 5th grade reporting.
Get a real story... report on something

Tony Romo, I think you can do better than Jessica Simpson. Carrie Underwood was way better! But, then again who cares who you date just wait till we get in the Playoffs and go to the SuperBowl then you can see as many blondes as you want.
Hey, do you like Brunettes?
:)
Romo Fan!
Posted by Dan M. @ 9:38 PM Wed, Dec 19, 2007
RAQUEL,
I LIKE BRUNETTES.
However, I don't throw 4 touchdowns like Romo did against the Packers on a Thursday night game on the NFL Network.
And I don't have that multi-million dollar contract.
But I DO like brunettes, and I don't much go for blonds, except the odd one now and again.
Call me.
But then again, I'm not likely now to throw three picks against the Eagles

As a quaterback in this league, what you try to do is prepare yourself week in and week out and hope that, come Sunday all of your preperation has afforded you the ability to execute well enough to give your team an opportunity to come out on top. Now, I've always felt that, you know, one of the best qualities of a leader is to lead by example and you always want to stand behind your teamates and support them, but at the same time, if Terrel does in fact feel that Jessica is or, has been a distraction, well then, he's entitled to his opinion. I don't feel she is, if anything I think she's helped my game because, if you notice in my follow through, I'm always smelling my left finger as I'm releasing the ball.

right now I love T.O....atleast someone is saying it like it is....listened to his comment on the Cowboys.com official website and listening to it was better than reading it on here. What is she even doing at a game anyway....? God know her dumb ass doesnt know squat about football...watching the game on Sunday..I couldnt help but wonder what kind of dumb comments she was making during the game...for example..Are they called tight Ends because they have butt implants? or If he is running back...why is he running forward? or Hey, did you just see Tony score that goal? Jessica Simpson is as dumb as a box of rocks..I mean how many people do you know that asked their ex- husband "Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken by the Sea." What an idiot Especially since the can has the word Tuna right on the label..Obviously Tony is not dating her for her mind..because let's face it...do you think Jessica and him have ever had an intelligent conversation with one another? Probably not
Posted by Maggie @ 10:57 AM Thu, Dec 20, 2007
Oh and Cowboy Jessica....Cowboys are Number one? Thats a little far fetched isnt it? And as far as they being America's team...thats ONLY AN OPINION...so seeing as you said the Cowboys are Number One when they AREN'T...who doesnt know a thing about football? I'll give ya a hint....YOU ...Are all people from Texas( with the exception of Shelia) Morons?
Posted by BB @ 11:03 AM Thu, Dec 20, 2007
Maybe T.O. wanted to take the spotlight off of himself for the slip and fall and missed catch....what blonde was he thinking about when that happened????
Posted by Melody @ 12:16 PM Thu, Dec 20, 2007
This is good stuff. I agree!

For a Passionate Eagle fan and also a TO fan, Even though we beat them they are still 12/2, I'd say pretty good!!
Posted by Kristina @ 8:31 PM Wed, Jan 02, 2008
He said exactly what I would have said. Jessica ruined the game, we should have beat the Eagles. I think that she should just leave him alone until football season is over, because Tony Romo is a good quarterback and she just made him loose focus.
