Tony talks

Tony Romo didn't speak to the media this week for the first time since he became the starter, primarily because he didn't want to talk about whether he was distracted.

"I just needed to get myself in the right frame of mind to play at my best," Romo said. "I felt like this week there were just so many distractions -- just junk sometimes -- and I felt like the most important thing for my team was to get myself in football mode 24/7."

Romo responded by completing 28 of 42 passes for 257 yards and one TD with one INT in the win over the Panthers. Those numbers are so-so by his high standards, but pretty impressive considering his sore thumb and T.O.'s absence for the second half.

You can hate the Romo romance coverage all you want. Only Romo and the guys in the huddle and meeting room with him know whether his focus was an issue last week. But it's a safe bet that it won't be for the refocused Romo the rest of the season.

If we win out to get to the Super Bowl, then that loss may be recalled as the wake-up bell for the quarterback and offense.

And we want to handle a Washington Redskin team that is desperate.

Treat it as a 1st round playoff game.

My only question is what exactly was supposed to be a distraction to Tony vs. the Eagles? Only the guys in the huddle and Tony himself know if he was distracted? By what? It can't be Jessica Simpson as she's already attended games and he played just fine.

Is there something about the 3rd time she's at the game that's supposed to be more of a distraction than the first two?

It's amazing the absolute irrelevant rubbish media outlets like this one just keep kicking over and over again. And people wonder why this country is in such bad shape with such embarrassingly incompetent leadership.

Timmy Tabloid. HAHAHA. What a perfect name for this bum of a journalist. Thanks Big Al.

Mike,
I agree with you complelty except that I don't think you can blame the President or Congress for this one, lots of other stuff, but not this!

Romo mentioned in the press conference about " a lack of journalistic integrity" or something of that nature. Do you know who he was talking about Tim? If not, ask "Lucky" Watkins and he might be able to shed some light on the situation.

P.S. I'm still looking for the audio where Keith Davis owned Tabloid Timmy for making something out of nothing. It'll be hard for Tim & Calvin to get locker room interviews if the players don't trust them. It's sad when your own peers distance themselves from you as Mickey Spagnola called bloggers "yuck monkeys"....OUCH!!!!

Mike,

That's the part Timmy Tabloid left out. Romo also mentioned that the "junk" mostly came from the media. Was he looking at you when he said it Timmy??

5SBRings,

I'm looking for that audio too. Haven't heard it yet. I was hoping someone could tell us by now where to find it.

Considering the Detroit saga, then the loss to Eagles, and the ho-hum showing against Panthers could one assume Romo may be slipping?

Taking into consideration his performance in the last 3 games; I am of the opinion Romo's best days are behind him.

some of you guys beat me to the punch: i enjoyed romo's comments after the game. he wasn't mad but very measured in his comments. a subtle jab @ media saying they went too far this week.

romo's right. i understand the media reports it but don't sensationalize it. there was very little carolina football talk this week.

also, romo appeared to single one guy out. a reference to an article he wrote. i'm trying to figure out what/who he was calling out.

btw, dallascowboys.com has many sound/video bytes on its site under multimedia.

Any news on the TO injury? We had a great game anyways, Romo played excelent, some really good decisions made, but we will still need TO for playoffs... kind of scared here. NFL odds for the next game against Washington are tough, specially without TO (it's the Jessica Simpson curse!)

"Really just JUNK at times." Sums up your reporting pretty accurately huh T-Mac?

Posted by Jim @ 1:08 PM Sun, Dec 23, 2007

The media is scrapping the barrel to have something to write or braodcast. All this flap about Jessica Simpson being a jinx for Romo is a bunch of hog wash! You guys & gals get a life and leave Jessica & Tony alone! One of the main requirements to be a media reporter is to be a total IDIOT!!!

It will be interesting to see if Dallas can compete with its backups against Wash. Nothing would be sweeter than knocking them out of the playoffs, but not at the expense of risking injury to our starters. And yes, Tabloid Timmy is an a$$. Bad karma for ripping on the Rangers constantly.
