Which one was the Pro Bowl RB?

Sure was tough to tell today.

Hawaii-bound Marion "The Barbarian" Barber rushed for minus-6 yards on six carries. Clinton Portis, who will have to make other vacation plans, rushed for 104 yards and two TDs on 25 carries.

Portis showed a lot of class this week by saying that Barber deserved the Pro Bowl berth. But you could make a pretty strong case for Portis over Barber.

Portis rushed for 1,262 yards (3.9 per carry) and 11 TDs on a team that has one Pro Bowl offensive lineman and doesn't have a potent passing attack. Barber rushed for 975 yards (4.8 per carry) and 10 TDs on a team that has three Pro Bowl offensive linemen and the NFC's best passing attack.

C'mon Tim, you are just being tabloid tim again.

Barber had a bad day, hell, who didnt.

But give Barber the same number of carries as Portis and then look at the yardage and touchdowns.

There would be no comparison. A 3.9 yard guy has no business going to the probowl, and Barber was 5.0 before todays debacle.

To rephrase what Nate Newton said (apologies to Newt if I blow this) by the end of the season, good playoff teams don't care who they play, they know that if they do what they do, they will beat you (regardless of the score, they will dominate).

The Boys are doing the opposite lately. Even when they win on the scoreboard, they're not winning the battle on the field.

This trust me card we're hearing about doesn't seem to be signed.

This is another case of bad timing regarding the pro bowl voting. Go back and look at their stats (and team record) when the votes were being cast. And at that time the skins looked like they were about to pack it in.

The Redskins lost 60% of their offensive line before the season started. There was absolutely no production from the passing game until very recently. In fact, they had no wide receivers with a touchdown thru the first half of the season. Teams had the luxury to key on Portis. The Redskins keyed on Barber today - how did that effect his average? Have him try facing that kind of attention for an entire season.

Question... If the Cowboys truly felt Barber was deserving, why would they not start him?

Answer... Because they know he is more effective in his current role.

By the way, backup running backs tend to have higher averages than starters for various reasons (they come into the game fresh against tired defenders...the 3rd down draw plays...mis-direction plays, etc).

Marion Barber finished the regular season 17th in rushing - 11th in the NFC. Check the stats, MANY players had higher averages.

The fact is, Marion Barber is Pro-Bowler because Cowboys fans like yourselves voted based on the color of the uniform. Congratulations!

This team is one and done. Mark my words. Much as it really blows to say.
