Brian Gaine update

Brian Gaine, the Cowboys assistant director of pro scouting, has not joined Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells in Miami.

I'm told the NFL has blocked a possible move to the Dolphins even though the Cowboys are willing to let Gaine leave now. Under league rules, Gaine would not be eligible to leave for the Dolphins until his contract expires unless he takes a job with "final say authority." His contract ends in the spring.

Since Ireland has that job in Miami, Gaine remains with the Cowboys - for now - unless the league decides to change its decision.

Gaine joined the Cowboys in 2005 after leaving the New York Jets, where he worked for Parcells.

Jeez, he's going after the whole dang scouting dept. I understood letting Ireland go, but now this too?? I'm a big Jerry fan but I don't want just the Jones family in the war room on draft day. Jerry needs to put his foot down and keep his guys. It took a few years to rebuild this organization and it's taking the Tuna a few days to tear it apart.

Okay, I know that's knee jerking but jeez. Stay away from the rest of our guys Tuna!!! LOL.

Why are the Cowboys willing to let him leave? Do they have replacements for these guys ? Whats the plan?

Thanks for the follow up, Todd.

Just speculating, but what does Jerry & Co. do now when he does leave?

Chad,
Jerry was willing to let him go because Gaine ASK JERRY to let him go.
You are not inclined to keep peaple on your payroll who do not want to be here.

Problem now is, how much good will this guy do the cowboys if the league forces him to stay here. Jerry may just have to release him (fire him?)now because he isn't going to be productive for the cowboys.

WilliamC,

I agree with what you're saying about Jerry, but where did you read for sure that Gaine wanted to leave?? I'm sure you're right or there probably wouldn't be a story but I hadn't read that anywhere.
