Here’s how the Bucs attacked Eli Manning on his 28 pass drops: 3-man pressure: 2 of 28 snaps (0 first half/2 second half) MANNING NUMBERS WHAT IT MEANT: Go ahead, take a second look. When the Bucs sent extra pressure, Eli was 8-of-8 for 76 yards and a touchdown. The sack happened in the first quarter. In the last three quarters, against the blitz, Manning was 7-of-7 for 70 yards and that score, and a 147.3 rating. Still thinking blitzing Eli’s the way to go? Manning was masterful, and that’s because after the first quarter, with the line adjusting to having a new center in place, he trusted his protection and had receivers playing smart, cutting off their routes underneath and settling to take small change all the way down the field. This looked like a different quarterback, and I think the Bucs would agree, based on the adjustments they made. After blitzing on nearly half of Manning’s drops in the first half, they came with extra rushers on just two of his 13 second-half pass attempts. |

AND...IF THE COWBOYS CONTINUE TO PROVIDE MORE THAN A 5 YARD CUSHION MANNING WILL REPEAT HIS PERFORMANCE!

Great work once again Breer. Once the Giants got rolling, Eli looked masterful. Maybe he is not adopted after all.
The Cowboys need to get to Eli early so he can't get into a rythem. If he gets some confidence look out, it is going to be a long game for the Cowboys secondary.
We could still outscore them like we did in the first game. But frankly, I would rather squash Eli and company early and often, so the offense can coast to an easy victory.
Go Boys!

I think my boy Eli is playing well, but I'm not sold on him just yet, but I think your secondary is overrated. Kevin Boss is doing a nice job filling in for Shockey, and Ah MAD Bradshaw is quick fast and tough to bring down. You guys haven't seen Bradshaw yet. As for our defense, well they're playing as well as they have all year, especially secondary. I'm looking forward to an intense close game. Good Luck gentlemen.

Interesting thing to consider is how often the Bucs got any real pressure when they rushed 5-6. My observation of the game was that they did not develop much pressure, and the Giants O line is very good at picking up extra men.
It will be interesting to see how many times Dallas brings the heat with extra rushers. I think they will attempt to do this via stunting schemes and moving Ware around to create mismatches.

giantjohn, get outta here with that. Our secondary is overated? Oooookay, let's just see here. Before we get into the numbers I'd like to mention that our starting CB's have never been 100% healthy at the same time and our #3 (or basically #2.5) safety has missed a few games too. So now that's out of the way.....
Our secondary has 19 INT's. That's good for a tie for 6th in the NFL. And only 3 behind the #2 team in the NFL. Our secondary has 103 passes defenced which is good for 4th in the NFL and only 5 behind the #2 team. Our secondary has given up the 13th fewest passing yards. And seeing as how Dallas had about 10 double-digit wins (which means teams abandoned the run in order to get back into the game) I'd say that 13th is pretty good. But most importantly our defense only allowed 19 TD passes. Only 7 teams did better and a few of them (Oakland, Jets, Chiefs) were so bad against the run that teams didn't need to pass for TD's. And another one was the Seahawks who went up against the Alex Smith's of the NFL.
Now for the final part of the pass defense. Dallas is 3rd in the NFL for sacks with 46. That's just 1 behind the Patriots and 7 behind your Giants. Take away that fluke 12 sack game and our pass rush is a lot better. Hell, I'll even be kind and just take away half of those 12 sacks and we're about the same.
And for the final tidbit to blow up your arguement...Dallas held opposing QB's to the 5th worst QB rating in the NFL with a 75.1 rating. So while we did give up some yards we made those QB's work really hard for them. And that's evident with the 6.4 yards per pass we allowed (which only 5 teams had a lower average).
But I will give you this. Bradshaw does look good and scares me more than Big Mouth Brandon. But if you're hopes are in a nobody rookie then I'd say your team is in some trouble.

Saint Jimmy, the strength of your defense is front seven. They make your secondary, not other way around. I'm not a numbers guy, numbers can be skewed any way you want. A very well respected Cowboy, and NFL analyst, Gil Brandt, said numbers picked Tampa Bay, but his hunch told him Giants. Bottom line is this is the Giants best chance to beat you guys. I don't know if they will, but I feel more confident now, than the two previous games.

What is this? Baseball? Anybody that breaks football down into minutia type stats is clearly waiting from Spring Practice to start.
