Could the Cowboys jet set?

At the NFL's European Vacation in October, Jerry Jones was asked about his team hopping on a plane and going overseas.

"It probably doesn't fit us," he responded to the media in London.

Here's my question: Why not next year? Seriously. Preliminary NFL plans have been to stage two games overseas per year, with each team in the league playing two in foreign lands over a 16-year period, giving up one home date over that time.

So say Jerry's got his back to the wall on this one, and has to give up a home game between now and 2023. It seems like next year would make the most sense, from a financial standpoint. He wouldn't be giving up the cash bonanza that home games in the new stadium will bring, starting in 2009, and with news that the league will return to England in 2008, he could not only spread his brand, but also spare his team a longer trip when the league starts looking to further away locales.

Is this an attempt to get a free trip to London? Well, maybe it is.

Might as well since Romo's already dating Liz Hurley

Hey G-strings_r_so_silly , don't you have some NFL replays of the Giants beating the Dallas Packers to watch? Take advantage while you can since it doesn't happen often.

Bryant,

You are a terrible announcer.

put a red uniform and furry hat on Wade and have him stand emotionless and expressionless in front of Buckingham Palace...you know...his game day demeanor...and then leave him there...

Either way he'd lose since games are supposedly already sold out for next season being that it's the last for Texas Stadium and those who have never attended a game...they want to get to the old house before Dallas moves out.

WHAT IS THE BLOG COMING TO WITH THE GIANT FANS. GET READY FOR YOUR BEATING SUNDAY. RAMS ARE THE WORLD'S TEAM.

I hope Jerry doesn't volunteer a home game next year. It would make financial sense to do it but there are many passionate Cowboys fans that have never attended Texas Stadium. Don't take that opportunity for those that aren't as fortunate to live in Dallas. Choosing the money could alienate those fans that will be paying top dollar for a final chance to visit the original Stadium built for God's Team. Money will be pouring in when the new stadium opens. We're already closing the door on TX Stadium... but you don't have to close it early.

I have to admit, next year makes the most sense. The only problem is that playing in London takes a potential prime time TV spot from the Cowboys since the game has to be the noon slot. But Albert makes a good point. I say go next year so that you can maximize the amount they will receive from the new stadium.

And I know Gerardo that you want to see Texas Stadium but the money is what pays all the signing bonuses and $3 mil contracts for assistant coaches. We can all say that Jerry has been a bad GM but he's always wanted to win and done whatever he thought was right in spending as much money as needed to win. And that comes from high revenues which he can maximize in the new place more than Texas Stadium. Go London our Cowboys!

Vijay, I can agree with that.

For the record though, I was born and raised in Dallas. I've been to Texas Stadium but since being in the military five years, I've met numerous Cowboys fans from all over the country that have never set foot inside.

We can all agree that Jerry will confirm one way or the other before the season starts.

I love to poop

Screw the rest of the world, keep NFL games in the good ol' USA, where good ol' United States citizens have supported the NFL since the beginning and made it what it is today. What's next? A Super Bowl in Wembley Stadium? Maybe they'd like to move NFL HQ to gay Paree? Maybe you like your NFL action with a bit of wine and quiche?! DON'T EXPORT THE NFL.

My name is Vox Veritas and I approved this message.

MR. POOPY YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE TO BECOME A BACKER OF THE WORLD'S TEAM, THE RAMS. WE HAVE SCOREBOARD ONCE AGAIN.

I would love to poop on all the Rams Players.

I heard the interview that Norm Hidges did a few months ago and Jerry's candid answer was 'it ain't happenin'. And he was very firm in his answer. So I wouldn't look for any trips across the pond.

As a born and bred Londoner and massive Cowboys fan this would be sweet.

Huge Cowboys fan in London here as well - would love it if the Cowboys came over here next year. Best situation would be if they played one of their road games here, then they still get their 8 home games at Texas Stadium.
