boy, with all these former and future head coaches on the same staff, assuming these interviews become hires, let's hope they all use the same Project Plan template. This could get hilarious over-organized in a hurry.

honestly, it reminds me of some of Landry's staffs. He seemed to have plenty of former head coaches from various levels at different times throughout his tenure, never seemed to do anything except add to the high quality of the organization as a whole.

Dang...took ya'll long enuf. Certain rag to the west of you had this all morning.

Now, what would Capers bring to the table I wonder. Anybody know?

Not necessarily a bad hire if it comes to fruition...more heads to bounce things off of as long as Wade makes the final call

First Campo, now Capers. Is Jerry just going down a checklist of the worst head coaches in history?

If we can get Campos,Capers and D Mac then it would be great improvments for Cowboys.
Who cares what Peter King has to say.
When was the last time King got anything right?
If I am a GM I would do exactly opposite of what Peter King says.
D Mac would spread the defense and allow T O and Witten more single coverage.

I think Jerry likes to give everyone a second chance. Next thing you know Pacman will show up at Valley Ranch.

Here's some food for thought, Capers was Garrets choice for Defensive Coordinator if he took the Ravens job.....don't you see the setup here

Didn't Jason Garrett say at one of his interviews for head coach that he would bring on Dom Capers as his Defensive Coordinator? Hmmm...

Optimist Point of View -- get all the high quality coaching talent you can and your team will be the better for it.

Pessimist Point of View -- Jerry's hiring Garrett's 2009 team for him now.

I hope it's the former, but I'm starting to get paranoid on behalf of Wade Phillips myself.

Cowboys4lfe,

Hmm, food for thought certainly.

Capers is an excellent defensive coach. He isn't such a hot HC, but that doesn't matter. He'll get a lot more out of our LB and he's a 3-4 coach as well. He's taught the 3-4, hybrid 3-4, and both one gap (Phillips 3-4) and two gap (Parcells 3-4).

I think he'd be a great hire.

Capers would be a great hire, many top coordinators just don't have the personality to be a head coach but it doesn't detract from their general coaching abilities. As for D-Mac, while I like the kid I'd rather have a 1st round CB and WR and maybe trade up in the second to get Felix Jones who would be a better compliment to MBIII.

Being the number 1 cowboy fan down in Houston I saw alot of Capers first hand. He was a terrible head coach but not too bad as a DC. Guess jerkoff is getting coaches ready for ol nutless garrett when they give Wade the boot soon. Nice job jerkoff keep screwing people over, its what you do.

I think the boys are making great hires on defense but my only concern is:

BRIAN STEWARD is only a 2nd year Defensive Coordinator. Is he strong enough to be the boss of Grantham, Campo, and Capers - three strong guys, two of which have been head coaches and one a former defensive coordinator?

Man, thats a lot of "beef" for a young coordinator to handle, especially with ol' laid back Wade as the head coach. This is not to mention that Brian is black and all these other guys are white. NO, i realize that "shouldn't" be a factor. But all things considered, I am just concerned if the chemistry will work on the defensive side of the ball. I mean, can't you just see all the "discussions" here when the defensive coaching team gets together to discuss game plans.

I hope I am being an alarmist, but I fear I may be being a realist.

William C. I dont know if you are being a realist, but you sound like a racist !

Posted by tugturdwell @ 11:25 AM Tue, Jan 29, 2008

Stewart will be fine. He can use the feedback from such veteran coaches such as Campo and Capers. And Dom would be a great addition to the staff who, if anyone...could really help Carpenter and Spencer.

James in Bowie,

I can see how you would say that considering my comment, but, no, I am anything but a racist. I just think the difference in ethnic background could be a problem for a young black man. It would'nt be the first time that color has had a negative impact on the asperations of an otherwise fully qualified person.

This is shaping up to be an awesome staff!
Thank goodness that Miami now has to tolerate the mediocre Parcells' staff. Good riddance.
