Let's just put it this way: Neither Terrell Owens nor the Cowboys exhibited much caution at all during the portion of practice open to the media. The workout was outdoors, and held in sweats. As Barry posted a minute ago, Owens came out late for practice, just as we were coming on to the fields, with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown at his side. After getting some early work in during passing lines, Owens retreated to the sideline, took off his shoe, and had the tape job around his left ankle sliced off. Owens then jogged around the stretching lines high-fiving all his teammates. And in early group work, the Cowboys were tossing fade routes up to Owens, requiring the receiver to go up for the ball. He worked with the first group most of the time, and kept close to Brown when on the sideline. Also, the limp he showed on Thursday was, for the most part, gone today. Bottom line: It's pretty much like nothing's wrong with Owens. |

This from Sports Illustrated today. Boys are done!!
Without further ado-doo, let's get to the burning issue of the day. Pat of Amenian, N.Y., asks the following: "Do you think Jessica Simpson is just an excuse for Romo's poor play, or do you think he just doesn't handle the pressure of playoff time?"
In order to answer that question, I have to take a roundabout route, and in that circuitous fashion your question, hopefully, will be covered? Is this OK? It's the best I can do.
First, a little background on the whole nature of football players and, uh, well, activities that might detract from their passion for the game. Walt Michaels of the old Paul Brown Cleveland Browns once told me that Brown had a rule that players were not to sleep with their wives (girlfriends not mentioned) after Tuesday. My first question when I heard that was, "How would he ever know? Did he hide in the closet?"
"Honor system," Walt said, with a wink.
Now I find that funny, too, so as you can see, I'm trying to establish myself as a guy who doesn't take this kind of stuff too seriously. YET, and I wish to stress this teeny weeny little adverb, this Romo thing does not sit right with yours, truly. He's coming off a bad three-game set; Eagles, Panthers, Redskins. He has a bad thumb and his go-to receiver might be down for the count. Not a happy time.
The game he had against the Eagles, and maybe the thumb was responsible for it and maybe it wasn't, was as bad as I've seen a QB have this season. And I'm talking about some of Trent Dilfer's desperate afternoons and Testaverde's Tribulations and the birth and death of Charlie Frye, etc. In doing my quarterback ratings I have a little mark I make for a bad pass -- a poor decision, flutterball, wild throw, and so forth. Tom Brady, on a good day, might have one or two, sometimes none. If Peyton Manning's facing a tough rush, he might have three or four. Brett Favre on a wild streak might get up to five or six. I think the worst game I recorded for Eli Manning this season was one in which he had nine, and that's a lot.
Romo against Philly had 14. I probably have, sometime in the past, recorded that many, but I can't recall when.
If I were Wade Phillips and I had an open weekend ahead, I wouldn't make Romo strap on the pads and get to work, but I'd damn well make sure to tell him to get his ass into Jason Garrett's office and work this thing out. Instead it's off to Cancun on the Airhead Express with his tootsie. I don't buy it. If I were betting, I'd jump on the Giants, getting 7½. And that's all I have to say on the subject -- until I have something more to say.

Guess that guy didn't catch Peyton's 6 INT game then?
have ALL the sports writers lost their minds?

Nice plagarized analysis, loser. You sound like such an expert on football, epsecially QBs
Romo is better than Eli, Cowboys are better than the Giants and both of our lines will dominate.
Why will this game be any different than the last 3 against the pathetic giants? Same hearltess QB, same loudmouthes trying to convince themselves they can win, etc.
What will be the excuse this time when brandon jacobs trys to explain that the giants are still the better team despite getting beat 3 times this season?

big blue: thanks for "your" thoughts. Please do come back after your team is owned once again to let everyone know how your team didn't lose and gave the game away for the third time this year.
Enjoy your last two days before you have to start talking next year.

daniel, he says he'll be back, but I'll believe it when we see him Monday.
He still reads SI. That's what we all read when we were 10 and it was the only thing out there.
Dal wins and covers, take it to the bank!
Blue Balls will gone for good after Monday.

Hot damn! Just what I expected to hear about T.O. Living in Jersey, I am so tired of hearing about how the Giants are going to win in D. I know its not just a local thing, as it appears to be the sentiment of many on a national level. My true feeling, not that anyone asked or cares, is that the Giants are in for a huge rude awakening. Bottom line comes down to talent and we all know Dallas kills them in talent in almost every position. It will be a long off season for the Giants as everyone, who hated Eli all season now says he is better than Romo. In addition, everyone wants to talk about Coughlin and Eli getting that huge win over Tampa and now they have the fire to beat Dallas. After Sunday, the talk will be back to normal: Coughlin is no good, Eli is poor and inacurate and big deal beating Tampa....we all know they are a very poor team. Go big D!!!

Hey Albert, if you read this, please let us know how Terry Glenn is doing as well. Does he look like he's going to be a factor? This would be so huge to have both TO and TG pumping on all cylinders just in time for the playoffs.

Smoke another one Big Blue!! It astounds me that these fansplayers havent learned to keep that pie hole shut. A good a$$ whipping on the field will shut them up and they wont stop talking until that happens. It was the same this on week 2. The media had the Giants beating Dallas. Dallas treated the Giants like they were in a prison film and traded for a carton of cigs. Keep talking NY mediots and NY fans. The Boys are eating it up and you are feeding the fire for another defeat. TO and Gleen will both be playing so pick your poison. Oh by the way if you think Bradshaw is your savior. Ask the Vikes and Adrian Peterson how well a runner does against the Dallas Defence.
Dallas - 40 - Giants -10

I am back. I know you guys have missed my realism (or pessimism).
Has this been the longest week or what?
So we have Tony Romo on a Mexican getaway, Sparano and Garrett interviewing, T.O.'s " as the ankle turns ", The Giants winning their playoff game, setting up a 3rd game against the Cowboys. Add RAMS FAN's comments plus the blog's invasion of Giants fans and let me tell you SUNDAY can't get here soon enough(though I admit I am glad it is the final game of the weekend.)
At first, I thought the Cowboys lose with all of this going on and I will say Romo does not look like he is having fun. I think he DID make a poor choice in going away.
But, and I can't believe I will say it - the Cowboys win.
I predict some turnovers, Romo nothing special, but a Cowboy defensive touchdown is differnce in a hard fought Cowboy 24-20 win setting up the NFC Championship against---- Seattle!
Thoughts?

How come none of these "experts" on (ESPN, Websites, etc ) will mention how hard T.O. has been working to play in this first home playoff game in ELEVEN years for the Cowboys?
When he does something wrong, these "experts" are there ready to pounce on T.O.
He has been rehabbing this ankle like crazy for 3 weeks straight and they barely mention it.
LT has been yelling on the sidelines at his QB yet they downplay it.
T.O. yells at his QB and its front page news the same day.
Bottom Line: T.O. is a beast and he just wants to win.

You know, its nice being able to come to these blogs and kill time when I'm bored (especially since I can literally read anything Cowboys). And everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinions. But one thing that I've learned in my years of watching football is that NOTHING THAT IS SAID OR WRITTEN PRIOR TO A GAME (WHETHER BY FANS OR BY ANALYSTS) MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE ON THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME! Its all about the players and how they perform on the field on Sundays. So everyone can say what they will (i.e. ESPN, SI, whoever), but I'll let my team do the talkin!
GO COWBOYS!!!

I was 8 years old when the Cowboys were formed. I have heard this kind of junk since then. Folks think we Cowboy fans are crazy, stupid etc. However, we just keep on kicking butt and taking names. It will all be good. Let/s enjoy this whupping and then move on to the division title game.
I don't about you guys, but I can handle work and a hot blonde and do just fine with both. I guess the critics just don't know how.

Big blew,
Your team has already been spanked twice this year. Maybe after it gets its third spanking this season, you will grow up and learn to keep your mouth shut.
I bet you won't show up in here after Sunday. Tell you what, if you come back in and apologize after the third spanking, we just might let you become a cowboys fan.
Second thought.... nawwwwww.....
