There had been talk about the Cowboys bringing in Emmitt Thomas as secondary coach. Not going to happen. Calvin Watkins just called to report that Wade Phillips said the Cowboys have been denied permission by the Falcons to talk to Thomas. Atlanta apparently will elevate Thomas to assistant head coach. |

You really don't think the Falcons are going to do anything for the Cowboys after Jason turned down their head coach offer did you. Just a little payback

No problem, I have been hoping for several things to happen, may be a pipe dream, but here goes;
1. I hope someday soon we either go back to a 4-3 or some form of a hybrid 3-4.
2. I have been asking for Dennis Thurman and hope he is the new secondary coach.
3. Please promote Dat Nguyen to LB Coach.
4.Marcus Spears is 305 lb's, move his big under-achieving butt into the DT or NG position and get are money's work out of him and move Jay Ratliff an over-achiever back to DE.
Unless we can get maximum pick (s) for either prayer, keep both of them.

forget about Emmitt Thomas. I htink a great guy to think about would be Darren Woodson. Sure he is doing the ESPN thing now, but I am sure he gets tired of sitting in with some pipsqueek sports/gossip journalists week in & out. When this guy played he wasa coach on the field. We never heard about roy Williams being a coverage liability when he played with Woodson. Just a thought.

That didn't stop JerJer from getting Petrino for his Hogs...ET isn't the asst head coach by contract, so they can't hold him to that unless it is what he wants.

Notes:
1. Dat Nguyen is a nice guy and with experience may be a good coach, but no way is he ready to be the coach of the most important group in the 3-4 defense.
2. No way will the boys even consider returning to the 4-3 defense. Forget it.
3. Dennis Thurman is still under contract with the Ravens, so unless that changes with the new HC coming in, the cowboys can not even talk with him.
4. Darren Woodson has said many times he is not interested in becoming an NFL coach.
5. If Emmitt Thomas remains under contract with Atlanta, the boys cannot talk with him, even for a promotion, so that is a dead issue unless Jerry can change their minds.

WilliamC....That post is the truth. I agree with everything except #5. correct me if im wrong, but NFL rules say if you are PROMOTING that coach, you cannot block any contact with him. I think thats why Atlanta is promoting him to asst. head coach.
And why would anyone want to go back to a 4-3? we finnaly can generate a pass rush and now we want to go back to a formation where we didnt have a double digit sack player from 96 to 06? (Tolbert to Ware)

Here's a few things I hope the Cowboys will do.
- Let Ken Hamlin go or move him to backup and start Anthony Henry at Safety. He's getting too slow for corner.
- Let Flozell Adams go and see what you have in Doug Free and or Pat McQuistan. He was not as good as people thought last year
- Trade for Detroit's Roy Williams. Need to replace Terry Glenn and get a successor to Terrell Owens.

Lets talk about coaches the boys might bring in or already have on staff that are ready to promote:
Dat - nobody works harder than this man. He has
always been a student of the game. Now, lets
promote him to LB's coach and watch them have
the same passion for the game as Dat. This
year he was in charge of breaking down the
opponents films. Looks like he did a damn
good job of it too. PROMOTE HIM...
others - let Wade and Jerry bring in some of their
asssistants, who have some loyalty to Wade
and I think you will see some great
results there.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I think we will have some very good years ahead of us. I can't wait..

The only thing that I ask for in this coaching search is please bring in some coaches that can teach these guys how to tackle. There were way too many missed tackles this year that resulted in big plays. Forget about schemes and blitzing, if you cant tackle you dont win. Period!!!
