Houck coming back to Cowboys?

Wade Phillips, who briefly chatted with a handful of reporters after Jason Garrett's press conference, mentioned that the Cowboys should be hiring an offensive line coach "pretty quickly."

Will it be Hudson Houck?

"I don't want to spill the beans," Phillips said, retreating into the coaches' offices.

Houck, who is available after spending the last three seasons with the Dolphins, sure would make a lot of sense. He has a reputation as one of the best OL coaches in the business, in large part because of his work with the Cowboys from 1993-2001. He also worked on the San Diego staff with Wade Phillips for a couple years.

Yes, Please.

I've been banging the drum for Houck on this here blog for three days. So much so that I think, if he does sign with Dallas, that he owes me an agents fee, since I'm certain that Jerry and Wade (and now presumably Co-Head Coach Garrett) pay close attention to my posts.

(and yes, the above is stated with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek - the one next to my mouth)

Houck was a exceptional line coach for the Cowboys during thier recent championship years. While he still has the knowledge to teach players, I wonder how much energy he still has. How old is Houch?

I have no idea how old "Houch" is but Hudson Houck is in his early 60's and was hoping to coach one last year before the rug got pulled out...just hoping he watches that playoff game closely and notes who was gassed and who was still able to come off of scrimmage in the 4th Q...

Houck has 24 years expereince as an NFL assistant, oughta be a big help to the youngster Garrett and one of the youngest teams in the league.

Is is beyond hope that Coach Joe will come back too? It would be nice to cut down on those long runbacks.

I still maintain that the boys will end up with an even better coaching staff in 2008 then they ended the season with in 2007, and Houck is part of that solution, as is replacing the Special Teams Coach.

Not the least bit worried about losing Todd Blow-it or the other defensive coaches. Better ones are available who actually have past experience in a 3-4 pressure defense like Wade's.

I like the idea of Houck and Avezano coming back. Coach A was a blast to watch on the sidelines especially if someone screwed up.

Since he was with the dolphins the last 3 years, how did Miami's line do the last 3 years, because if it sucked, I don't want him. Wake-up people!!!!!

One of my all time favorites was coach Joe. His special teams were excellent and he was fun to watch doing his thing on the sideline. I was disappointed when Parcells let him go. Yes, bringing him back to Dallas would be a plus.
