This is a non-Cowboys post -- but it really is too good to be true. The team that has always gone to absurd lengths to build motivational tools just watched as one was constructed for its opponent. And by the local media no less! Here's guessing news of the pre-sale of "19-0: The Historic of New England's Unbeatable Patriots" will make its way over to the Giants. The funny part is that a couple years back, when the Patriots were playing the Eagles in XXXIX, Bill Belichick read Philadelphia's plans for a championship parade to his team the night before the game, pretending to be infuriated that the city would set that up. Somehow, I think this is a much bigger slap in the face. Or, at least, I'm positive that's the way the Giants will take it. |

Good Lord, how I pray and pray and PRAY to the football Gods each night this week that the Giants upset this Patriots team. I do NOT want to see them go undefeated. We will have to hear about it forever if they do. Just like I have to CONSTANTLY hear my nephew Tim spout off about his unending football "knowledge".
Lord knows, I would disown that little b*stard in a minute in exchange for a Giants victory!

I've got an opinion poll for you guys...Who do you want to lose more?
On one hand, I'd love to see the Pats get their rears handed to them. What better way to punish Bellichik for cheating than to have him endure the reputation of losing the final game of a potentially perfect season?
But on the other hand, I'd love it if the Pats showed New York that they got lucky (and Pierce, Strahan, and Jacobs would have to shut the eff up and realize that their last three opponents laid down for them). And that way I wouldn't have to hear that "Eli has finally arrived" ad nauseum.
I'm not sure who I want to lose more. How about you guys? Even you, Rams fan, redskins_rule, and all members of the Burns family.

I'm kinda impartial to a previous suggestion on this blog...Meteor strike in the Glendale Az area right around 3:45 p.m....barring that...whatever team I don't bet on...I'm thinking let the Giants get bet down and then go Patriots...how does that sound?...

oh, first and foremost, I'd rather see the Patriots lose. There is no sting like the great season that ends with the thud of a loss in the Super Bowl, especially to such an over-achieving opponent as a wild card. Especially if it's close, and you know you have to hear about losing over and over when you're stil watching a last second field goal barely make it or a dropped pass in the end zone or an interference call that wasn't. Nobody remembers the other guys barely won, especially the other guys. Just ask Bradshaw how good he thinks the Cowboys of the 70s were.
however
watching the Giants and all their ridiculous me-me-me bluster doesn't make us feel warm towards them, even though there is plenty of hot air to go around. The thought of watching those mouthy morons getting pancaked, and their hiliarious Coach and QB competing for who can look more befuddled on the sideline and in the huddle while they get steamrolled by the typical Patriots team we have seen most of 2007 would be the only satisfying end to this season from an NFC and NFC East perspective.
If the Patriots are going to win no matter who is in there, it might as well be someone other than Dallas that has to share the highlight film with them.
If the Patriots are set up to fail, however, why not let the Giants win and have this go to their heads? They don't even know how they got their this time, they can hardly duplicate the feat next year.
Posted by A-cast @ 2:57 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
I have the same issues about either team winning that's why I'm hoping the Giants win in overtime (FG) and Giligan Manning has a terrible day with 4 INTs and 150 total yds. I'm sure the NY media will say he managed the game like a hall of famer, though

The race doesn't always go to the strongest, or the swiftest, or the undefeated...but that's the way to bet!
Posted by Bill In DC @ 3:07 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
I am rooting for the Giants for purely selfish reasons.
1) I don't like teams to go undefeated and tend t root for the underdog.
2) I don't want the Pats to get that next SB trophy so they stay behind Dallas in SB torphies and they can't claim 'Team of the 00's' honors just yet.
3) The Giants are from the NFC so it stops the 'NFC is the junior conference' smack.
4) If the Giants win it would mean that Dallas beat the Superbowl Champs 2 out of 3, which, while not as satisfying as winning the SB ourselves, does take some of the sting out of our loss.
5) If the Giants win Dallas gets to beat the SB Champs twice next year.
GO Giants!

This deal with Tim Burn, Jim Burns, and nephew is growing old. It just isn't funny. I prefer to listen to the babble from Rams fan then this idiot.

Careful what you wish for "enough already" because I think I hear RAMS FAN logging on as I post this. I agree about the "fill in the blank"_Burn characters. It's old but Rug Burns made me giggle a little bit :)

Great opinions guys. I agree with redskins_rule -- if that defunct spy satellite decides to fall out of the sky in the area of Glendale on Sunday afternoon...well, that'll be two super-bowls in a row where precipitation has made for an interesting game...
Wonder if Tom Coughlin has gotten over his frostbite yet.

apologies for the mis-used "their". my own pet peeve and I let it go right in.
correction: the Giants don't know how they got THERE...blah blah blah
I blame it all on captcha stress!

Would love to see the Patriots lose. They represent a great deal about what can go wrong in profesonal sports.
Posted by Rick @ 5:06 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
Keep crying Cowgirl fans. Win or lose, at least the Patriots and the Giants got this far (don't whine about history ... you sound like Yankee fans.) The Patriots are clearly the better team, and if they finish 19-0, the book will be a bestseller! (did anyone actually see the book on Amazon, or do you guys just have nothing else to do but blog garbage this time of the year?) We Patriot fans are busy planning our Super Bowl Party, and then hopefully prparing for a victory party afterwards>
Posted by Rick @ 5:14 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
Do any of you who claim the Patriots cheated really understand what happened? They were allowed to film from somewhere other than the field, but they were indeed arrogant and decided to film FROM the sidelines. If they filmed EXACTLY what they filmed from the allowable location (ie upstairs, in a COVERED location) everything would have been fine. They did not use the film during the game (or during ANY game) Is arrogance really cheating? Everyone reads some blogger (or the National media for that matter) claim CHEAT, and everyone mistakenly runs with it. Do your haomework and get the facts!
Posted by torn @ 5:17 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
Rick,
We'll put you down under "rooting for Patriots". Thanks for your valuable insight.
Out of curiosity, if you're so busy planning your super bowl party, why are you posting on this blog? Would you like us Cowboy fans to handle your super bowl party preparation for you, so you can continue trolling on the other 29 non-superbowl teams' websites? After all, we've been to the most Super Bowls in NFL history, so we know a thing or two about throwing super bowl parties. Seriously, we're not doing anything for the next week anyways, so we really don't mind. It's ok. You've got more important things to worry about.
Posted by Ranch Hand @ 5:37 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
P_rick,
If it wasn't cheating, then why was a $250K fine imposed and the Cheatriots lost a draft choice?
Posted by Rob Miles @ 6:25 PM Mon, Jan 28, 2008
Seriously, if what the Patriots did was no big deal, and it didn't give them any advantage, why did they do it for so long? Especially, why did they do it this year after all the teams were specifically told in the off season not to do it? Just because they're jerks?
Okay, actually I would buy that. But I just can't believe that the smartest coach in football history, the one who has apparently never lost a game in his career (because he's obviously so much smarter than any other coach ever, and does the whole football thing better than anyone ever has, ever), would purposefully go against a rule that he had been especially warned about if it didn't give them some kind of advantage.
It would definitely be interesting to see what was on the other film that was so hastily destroyed. I mean, when you destroy evidence that quickly, it's almost like you're trying to cover something up.
And yes, this captcha scheme Al Breer brought with him from up north still bites.

I was in Dallas in October to watch the Patriots whip your 'boys behind. I'm pretty sure y'all saw that too. I'm checking out the sights to see the spin Dallas is going to put on Super Bowl week, and I've gotta give it to you, root against the team going for a perfect season. You just don't like the fact that Brady's girl is better then Romo's girl. By the way, Jessica isn't the reason y'all lost.

Hey candy, or is it kansas, what was your mom thinking. Go get back in bed with our brady doll. And quit dreaming that it's jessica the whole time

Why didn't the blogger mention the ownership of the media authoring the 19-0 book? The New York Times. That's what makes the story interesting.
