Romo's thumb must be feeling OK

3:18 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008 |
Tim MacMahon   E-mail   News tips

Word was that Tony Romo reinjured his thumb early in the Cowboys' loss to the Giants, but it apparently has already healed.

Jason Garrett said he had a nice chit-chat with Romo today after deciding to stick around Valley Ranch. Romo invited him to play basketball with all the quarterbacks today, so his thumb must be feeling fine.

shooting and dribbling a BB and throwing a FB 2 different things T-Mac...anyone who has played a sport knows this...and playing pick-up hoops waaaaaaaaaaayyyy different than facing a top notch NFL D...with logic like this it looks like you can be Wade's back-up down at the local Bob's...

Who gives a f*** about the status of Romo's thumb now? He will have a looong time to rehab that opposable digit I think.

Posted by worried about romo @ 4:19 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Its not his thumb injury that bothers me.
That will heal.

But will his brain injury heal....ever....

Posted by Sandy @ 4:40 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

sore thumb? that explains the wounded duck pass to TO...but what explains him losing his head in the second half...and dare I say choking....well..two chokes in a short career..once in Seattle once here in Dallas...lets hope the third time is the charm and he finally overcomes the pressure.....

Hey "Paulov"

I completely agree with you.

Sincerely,

Kurt Warner

Oh Mr. Timmy Tabloid of the Dallas Morning News, I see you’re back at it again. Creating things so irrelevant like the Tony Romo- Jessica Simpson-Cancun nonsense in Dallas prior to the most important game here in Dallas for all us Cowboy fans since the last SB we won and instead of being a true Journalist and reporting things of substance, you behaved like a media whore, like a gossiping woman who utilizes her opportunity to speak in a public forum only to try to destroy other persons reputations or good name. And, faithful to your calling, now this!
Maybe you HAVEN’T NOTICED the true things that matter to us Cowboy fans, like the news that Charles Haley was not among the 17 finalist for the Hall of Fame, BECAUSE YOU WERE TO BUSY LOOKING FOR SENSATIONALIST “*-/&$!!!!
That was a Travesty! How can the Leader of that Dynasty Championship D of the 90’s not be in the HOF! Give me a break!
And to all the readers here on this blog, I apologize for maybe going on a diatribe here or extending myself so long on this one, but I just have to vent all this frustration and anger I still feel after this last game.
As a matter of fact, after what happened last Sunday, and witnessing one of the greatest collapses in recent NFL history, this Team now is in need now of such a Leader more than ever, a Leader of that caliber as Charles Haley. He was instrumental in giving that Cowboys D the killer instinct it had back then. This Team is the Cowboys of 1991, we need the one player that will do that for us and make us the Cowboys of 1992.
And think about this, fellow fans. Brett Favre is a HOF quarterback, no doubt about it. So that means we are looking at one of the best ever, right? Who was the leader of the Dallas D that always found a way to DO THE JOB on Favre? No offense to Brady, but one that won before the free agency era, not against watered down teams. Great move by the NFL head honchos to avoid monopoly of power. That worked out real fine. Now we have the Pats.
Man, after I get back from the field and rest my head to forget the day, I try to find distraction by trying to decipher what went wrong this past Sunday. I still feel confused as to why this Team could falter like this. They all should apologize to the City of Dallas and Fans around the world for the ¿*%$ they put out this past Sunday! There is no excuse for it. You are getting paid millions to have one of the most coveted jobs in the World and some players, according to Terrance Newman, come out with no emotion! If Jacques Reeves, is one of them, then he needs to go.
While hundred’s of thousands will probably lose their jobs in the coming months if a recession hits our Country, and your getting paid as much as you are, and you’re still unable to find it in yourselves to gather some emotion?! What! No excuse at all! You let us down Cowboys, and it’s up to you to now use this as motivation next year and show us you are Champions.
I have a theory and IMHO, I think that all the distractions created by the media had a toll on this young team. And the players and coaches say they don’t read this stuff, but in all objectivity, how could someone escape from the curiosity of reading what is being said of him in such spotlight position in this day and age of the Mass Media? Simply not true. So, with that said, if someone can get Tony Romo to read this, then I would be most certainly grateful.
Tony, you need to learn from your mistakes. You need to realize that regardless of the fact that this crap did not affect you, you, as the Leader of this offense, must realize that not all the other players are as strong mentally as you! That’s what Leaders do. They are capable of taking control of the situation and doing what is best for the Team. You need what is termed out there as Mystique. And, without exception, all the Great QB’s have had it. When I saw the look on their faces on game day I could see that they were ready. They were capable of not only bringing out their best play on that day, but most importantly, that of their teammates. The majority if the players around you are professionals also, but they don’t have your mental fortitude. It was witnessed by the dropped balls, blocking mistakes, offside penalties and coverage falters we saw. You need you to come out with a killer instinct and to transmit that to them on the field. The whole team should come back with a lot to prove in this 2008 season. 8 is a number that stands for a new beginning, but this will be a year with 2 previous disastrous finishes, so this years Team has to play with urgency!
And, as the Spanish soldiers were there, with only two options staring at them in the face: At the threshold of being killed on the sacrificial tables with their hearts being pulled out while still conscience, or of destroying one of the more feared armies of North America in it’s time, they were saying to themselves on that battle field that day, on the day of their decisive battle against the Aztec army “La tercera es la vencida”*, so should be the mentality for Romo, and subsequently, for the entire Cowboys team for this upcoming season. Because, there is no other sport that resembles war more than football. You have physically and intellectually dominate your opponent on a man on man battlefield. You are fighting for every inch of real estate that you gain. That is part of what makes it unique in the world.
*The third onslaught is for the overcoming.

Sandy,
How did Romo "choke" in the second half? If you call getting absolutely no protection from his offensive and getting physically abused on every drop back "choking", I guess he choked. It's hard to throw the ball when a 250 pound defensive end is two inches from your facemask.

Posted by Mark Chmura's Hot Tub @ 5:43 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Sandy has obviously played with too many Mattell toys imported from China...Romo was the only thing going at the end of the game!!!...WRs making up their routes; the OL gassed; Gurode getting the snap back there right before the rush got there...what a buffoon-like statement Sandy...

Posted by Andrew @ 6:09 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Is anyone else laughing at the mental image of Brad Johnson playing ball with Romo and Bartel?

Posted by dsiff @ 6:29 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Brad,at 6'5",is taller than all of them.I'll bet
he is pretty good at hoops.

Posted by ptm @ 6:34 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

I agree Sandy. Everyone seems to forget his last pass was an Int. And he didn't have anyone in his face. What happened to superman like escape skills. I'm telling you guys again. Get that cheese eating smile off his face after a 3 and out and he might not choke so much. He better get a business like approach to this game, or we will see this again. He should still be reviewing film to see what he could have done better

Posted by mike @ 6:46 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

ptm I didn't know smiling had anything to do with choking. Before you post maybe you should pull your head out of your A$$.

Posted by ptm @ 7:47 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Hey mike you idiot. You don't see brady smiling coming off the field when they go 3 and out do you. Put that bottle of jack down and you might see the game. Next time read the whole message, ya drunk

Now boys, what is this talk about a$$es and bottles. You guys are making me feel frisky!!

Posted by ptm @ 8:55 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

Hey gay lover. Go get your blow up patriots doll and leave the real talk to the men. Go play with your tinker toys you filthy animal

Posted by Drew @ 9:09 PM Thu, Jan 17, 2008

dropped passes and penalties were the problem in the second half, not romo exclusively. although i admit he needs to step it up next year and get a serious chip on his shoulder if they want to be winners. Nothing less than a Super Bowl is acceptable in this town. That's why we're the Cowboys and not the Giants or Seahawks.
