One more thing from practice: Roy Williams was wearing the number he donned as an Oklahoma Sooner -- 38. I guess the hope there is that he starts playing like he did as a collegian. Or, at least, that has to be what the Cowboys are hoping after a tough regular season for 31. |

I'm sure that it probably has more to do with the fact that the Sooners are playing today. But hey, if it would make him play better, that would be a very good thing (especially in pass coverage).

He's probably changing his number in hopes the other teams QB won't recognize him and burn him like the toast he is.

Roy- Please come back to us and start laying some hits. We can't have Redskin, Giant or Tampa scrub receivers looking like hall of famers against us.

Back in the Campo days (God help me for remembering those) Roy was my favorite player and truly the face of the franchise.
His play has declined a great deal, and now he whines and whines. I like the guy, and wish he would again become a difference maker as a hitter, but I am not over-reacting to say that it may be time to cut him and his contract, take the cap hit, and let Watkins and Davis play, along with either moving Henry to safety and/or getting another one to play alongside Hamlin in the draft/free agency.

What a beast this guy once WAS.
Posted by joe @ 2:32 PM Wed, Jan 02, 2008
What happened to that guy in the video?

Hope he donned the only playmaker who used to live inside that jersey also...

Meant to say "old playmaker"

This is painful to watch. What happened to him? He was supposed to take over for Darren Woodson as the soul of the defense. I hope he turns it on in the playoffs.

Roy Williams use to hit like Bill Bates now he dont hit at all I agree he needs to go or step it up. I am 39 yrs. old and 20lbs. over weight and I could burn him.

Whatever helps Roy.
#38 "Tres Oucho" has a nice ring to it.
or maybe numero 85 "Oucho Sinko".
If either doesn't work,
then next year it's 86 "OchO GoneO".

Roy Willy is soft cause he got paid. He looks like he's afraid of contact, unless that contact is when he's colliding w/ his own teammate and knocks that teammate off a tackle. I agree, cut the bum and just suffer the cap hit.

Roy is the worst...

I got to admit that I am quite disappointed with roy. It is getting harder and harder to defend him in football discussions with my friends. The problem I see that happened to him was he never really knew where to be or how to play his position. He was making outstanding plays and hits because Woodson was lineing him up and telling him what to expect and Roy was jumping all over it. The moment he had to play without woodson, his coverage flaws were exposed. His nack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time was exposed. Just my opinion at least.

roy william's isn't what he used to be. i mean come on now he's been in the league for 6 yrs and he still hasn't learned how to tackle? come on now you're in the nfl learn to tackle someone. then he has the horse collar rule made b/c of him and thats the only he tackles now? if you have a rule made for you then seems like you have to change something about your tackling
Posted by gary m @ 4:31 PM Wed, Jan 02, 2008
he should change his number to one between 50 and 79

Everyone has a bad year now and then. To all the armchair GM's,,,who are you going to replace Roy Williams with? Get over it buffoons
Posted by bill @ 9:24 PM Wed, Jan 02, 2008
Roy used to be a beast. Got involved with that Kelly Rowlands, broke-up, and it's been down hill ever since. Stay away from the singers!!! LOL

Look at his number of tackles, solo tackles passes defended and INT's. Got it? Now go look at the same stats for "superstar", media darling Bob Sanders from Indy. Notice something? Almost identical. I think Roy gets caught out of position and takes unnecessary penalties. I also think he gets bar-b-qued by talk radio and fans, and half the time it's on a play where the receiver wasn't even his responsibility. To say he doesn't hit any more might be the single most retarded thing I've read here in 24-48 hours. He's not the best SS in the league, but he's the best one on this team.

Great news if indeed T.O. seems to be looking better! Thank God for that, as he would say.
I have a feeling the Boy's have been spoon feeding the rest of the league, as well as some people who have expressed their opinions on this Blog, judging by their reactions to a game that meant nothing but records.
After the Green Bay game, they have avoided showing any more than needed in regards to their "options and game planning’s". Not showing anything new.
But, if we can have T.O. and Glenn and all that THIS means, applied to that field on the 13th, then I would feel safe to say that that would be the first of three explosive performances by the Cowboys to go on to win the Super Bowl. That's how confident I feel about it. If only because of the possibilities it gives our offense now with a full deck to play with.
The same on D. We may be in for a treat to see more of the Spencer in there at the same time with Ellis and DWare. And with the way Ratliff's playing. And with Tank's improved play, watch out!
And to all the redskins fans that came to this here "Dallas Cowboys Blog" to talk garbage, well I say to you now: Bring the redskins back in two weeks!; I want to see the look on the players faces when they get looks they've never seen all year. Whoever. I can't wait to begin! And just watch Roy Williams. Just watch.

Anybody notice anything about that Roy video? He was still a biscuit short of a linebacker. Maybe shedding pounds has slowed him down?
I think he just misses Stoops.
Who had 38 when he got here? Why the switch in the first place?
