I'm going to be taking a few days off from Cowboys Blog to trip out to Arizona, and it's clear that out in those parts, WR Terrell Owens isn't exactly making himself scarce. And he's got some shots to take. First up, Plaxico Burress, who called T.O. a coward in 2006. NFL Network host Jamie Dukes asked him to assess Burress and, unprovoked, Owens fired back. "Obviously in the last couple games, he’s been very, very huge in their success," Owens said. "I’m not a big Plax fan, but in the last game he played, he came up huge." Asked by Dukes to expound on that, Owens came up with this: "There was just some things that he had to say about me. We had worked out together and then he had some smart remarks to say about me. It came out of nowhere, so in that regard, I’m not a big Plax fan. But as far as his play is concerned, I know he’s been very instrumental in their success in the last two playoff games." T.O. also addressed the Eagles looking to recoup some bonus money he got for signing with the team in 2004. He said it's over, and he's moved on. "It ended when I departed, so whatever happens after that, I’m not going to let it bother me," Owens told Dukes. "No matter how much money that they feel I have to pay back, I won’t let it distract me or take me back there. When I left there, I left Philly. I’m with the Cowboys and I’m very successful where I am. I’ve been very successful wherever I’ve gone. You look at what they’ve done since I’ve left, it speaks volumes." That's been a trademark line of Owens', and another thing that's becoming a calling card -- somewhat surprisingly, considering what's happened in the past -- has been the receiver's passionate defense of his quarterback. No tears this time, but T.O. again stepped to the plate to say that the Simpson Family Bye Week Fiesta had no affect on his team's performance. "They made so much about him, his vacation and his girlfriend," Owens said. "That’s not what it was all about. What he did in his off-time, that’s his personal time. Had he offered me to go to Mexico, I would’ve been there with him." Owens wasn't done, continuing by saying, "He’s not trying to replace an Aikman or a Staubach or any of those guys. Tony, he’s his own person. I’ve gotten a chance to know him the last couple years. He’s a very down-to-earth guy and he goes out and plays the game like a kid. He likes to have fun. I think it is unfair that media would try to scrutinize what he does in his off-time, because what he did on vacation had nothing to do with the way we lost that game." And then, came the best part for all of you -- T.O.'s optimism toward 2008. "If this season is any indicator of what next season can be," Owens said, "then I expect to be in the Super Bowl." I'll see all you when I get back. |

T.O. sounds like his is maturing a professional and a person- who would of thought it? As for next year, the Boys if healthy stand a chance to duplicate another awesome season if their worst enemy don't get in the way- themselves.

Both TO and Romo are keeping quiet about the real reason for the
"Season-Finale Failure".
Sadly, Coach Wade had to take the blame in the press conference.
Coach Jerry's playing-not-to-lose conservative-running game plan is
THE REAL LOSER HERE!!!
Jerry, you've converted a high-powered 30+ points/game offense into a
tired-out-worn-down-from-run-blocking 2-3yds and a cloud of dust
maybe-we-can-get-close-enough-for-a-3-pointer unit.
Your MacFagdum wet-dream-nightmare will be the curse of death.
Fire Coach Jerry and get back to you're pizza dreams.

Hey Retire Coach Jerry:
I can see that you'd be upset, since Jerry looked over your resume and then Wade's and still went with Wade right? Try coaching yourself, you'd nut up like a school girl on the playground.
Stick to what you know, like Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys, little man.

Coach Jerry? Please. Jason Garrett said it was Wade Phillips' call to accentuate the running game in the playoff loss. And the running game was successful, especially in the first half. The difference in the playoff game was that we let them score in 57 seconds at the end of the first half, and then couldn't come up with a big play in the second half as had been done in the previous two meetings.
If you have a legitimate criticism of Jerry, then by all means have at it. But truly, if you can't correctly use "your" instead of "you're" then that sums up the thought behind your input.

Retire,
I don't usually insult other posters, but man, you are short a few brain cells.
As I recall all the pundits were SCREAMING at Jason Garrett because he 'forgot about the running game' and made Dallas O one dimensional. Now, when they come out running (highly successful in the first half) you want to lambast them for running the ball. A running game is NOT 'playing not to lose', dude. Its smart football. Lombardi ounce said that when you throw the ball 3 things can happen and two of them are bad. Overly simplistic, I think it's more like 6 things (Completion, incompletion, sack, interception, O penalty, D penalty), 4 of which are bad so the ration holds 66% bad stuff.
The fact is that the Dallas passing game was suffering the last 3-4 games because teams realized we weren't running the ball effectively so they clamped down on our receivers.
Give the Giants D some credit here. They played a great game and adjusted to Dallas running the ball. Dallas D played a great game as well (holding an opponent to less than 60 yards in the 2nd half is a tremendous effort). Clearly Dallas was not 'clicking' in pass offense for whatever reason, our inability to run the ball in the 2nd half killed us.
FYI, ask any O lineman and they will tell you run blocking is nowhere near as tiring as pass blocking. O linemen love to run block because they can beat up on the D.
Look at the Pats, they have the best passing game in the NFL, bar none. Do they pass all the time? No, they came out running (two Tights + FB) in the second half of the AFC championship. They ground it out. You have to be able to run the ball and have some balance for an offense to work over time.

Retire,
If you want to look for a reason for the loss, try ELEVEN penalties in a playoff game. Add some dropped passes and leaven with punt and kickoff coverage problems resulting in great field position for the G's and bad for the Boys.
The problem was not the playcalling or the game plan, it was execution. It certainly was not Jerry Jones. Geez!

Where are the T.O haters now??? I am sure most haters including media were disappointed that T.O didn't give them any news to sensationalize for the repayment to iggles.

Maybe T.O. has finaly mellowed out. Like Randy Moss did.
