Colts S Bob Sanders won 31 of 50 votes for Defensive Player of the Year, easily giving Indy Assassin the award. But DeMarcus Ware did make the next group. Tied for second, behind Sanders, were Seahawks DE Patrick Kerney and Titans DT Albert Haynesworth, whom garnered four votes apiece. Ware was tied for fourth with New England's Mike Vrabel, each drawing two votes. |

Meh. I'll take Kerney, Haynesworth, or Ware any day over a safety. Breer and his man-crush can keep Sanders. The Indy Assassin? That has got to be the cheesiest nickname I have ever heard.

It's funny...I know stats aren't everything, but Sanders numbers are a lot like Roy Williams, and nobody would consider him DPOY material.
I like Ware's impact. His 14 sacks were quietly 3rd in the league. Haynesworth's value can't be measured. He was out for a few weeks and the Titans were winless with him in street clothes. Hey, maybe it's Cromartie for the Super Chargers.
Where is that defense without his 10 picks?

If the Cowboys had kept playing hard in December, it might have helped Ware's case. He really didn't have much production in the last three weeks.

James Joyner, I'd say 4 sacks and 14 tackles in 3 games is pretty good production.
