The Patriots announced today that they've hired Dom Capers as their secondary coach, replacing the deposed Joel Collier. The Cowboys had Capers to Valley Ranch to speak about a position as a defensive assistant, but the coach pulled out of the running in loyalty to DC Brian Stewart, who worked for Capers in Houston. |

Dude, I don't even know who you are, but it seems that every article you write is about the Patriots. Have some class and resign or jump off a bridge or something of that nature. If I wanted to read and blog about the Patriots, I would go to their site. Can we sign a petition to have you axed?

jeff,
Please be more specific. Scumbaggery fits so many people. I mean, for all I know you're talking about poor C-LO there.

How fitting for Capers to take a position with "Nicaragua's team" hahahaha

Play nice cowboy elmo. It is relevant because he interviewed with the Cowboys. Grow up.

Elmo,
Watch your step & tread lightly, boy. I could care less, but you don't want to go down that road. You'd best lay back & enjoy it while your here. If not, you'll find it much nicer elsewhere.

I am disappointed with that. I didn't like the job that Brain Stewart did last year and I didn't like it when he was given the job last year over Todd Bowles. I would have loved to have Campers on board even if that meant getting rid of Bowles

Capers is a proven loser, I'm glad he's not with the Cowboys.

Call it what you may, Dom Capers has taken two defenses Pitt & Jacksonville to their prospective championship games, while Brian Stewart and Wade Phillips still can't get out of the first round of the playoffs.
Great Job Jerry, letting Brian (when all else fails with an 80 million dollar defense go zone, and give up an 80 yard drive with 30 seconds left in the first half causing the dallas cowboys to be the first number one seed at home to be bounced in the first round) Stewart to block a more capable coach in dom capers from joining the staff.
I am sick, please give me what I have been asking you for since training camp last year, please get me CB Deangelo Hall, another S (instead of roy williams), another LG (to replace Kyle Koiser), a true 3-4 NT 330 plus (if we have to play this 3-4 Gimmick defense instead of a 4-3 hybrid), bigger WR or WR's (Larry Fitzgerald not Roy Williams he gets hurt to much) and finally better linebackers who can cover.
Please do this for me Jerry, as I have said I am available to work in the front office if you need me, and from the moves that I have seen so far this offseason you need me.
I'll send you the MEMO tomorrow its late.

good observation on Capers ntouch4u2. Performance as a Position coach vs. head coach is pretty different.
The positions you want filled seems naive in the salary cap era - We have 3 starting DB's making big money. Adding Hall and another S is completely unrealistic. We have 3 pro-bowl lineman. Can be pro-bowl at every position and stay under the cap. Might as well get realistic or else you'll just stay frustrated all the time.

El Diablo Blanco,
Your busted_in_San_Angelo! The full quote you lifted scumbaggery from was:
"Bahston Globoid Sports writers from the land of snobbery, braggartistry and scumbaggery."
No big deal, I lifted it also. But at least braggartistry was mine.

Guys, it is relevant because it is an NFL story. The other paper reported it and no one called the write there names.
But WTF! Brian Stewart is a no coordinator....he is a position coach elevated to coordinator position because of Wade Phillips. Stewart should have been fired here and Capers named defensive coordinator.. Or, at the very least, our DB coach.
Good coaches want the best coaches under them. Stewart proved he is not a good coach with his blocking Capers move. New England wins; Dallas loses.

Hmmm,
Thanks for the response, my logic and break down is as follows;
1. The cowboys need another CB that can play man to man. Anthony Henry needs to be covered up with safety help beacuse putting it simply he is to slow and out of this 3-4 they seem not to get adequate pressure on the QB. The reason for wanting deangelo hall is he has the right amout of baggage, with high quality talent and that produces the right price tag that would allow dallas to keep terrence newman as well.
2. Left Guard, the break down quite a bit this year on the OL was through kyle koiser whether in pass protection or in the running game. Garrett is running norvs old offensen which calls for at times straight ahead drive blocking, dallas could run at you no mater what because of the guard center guard tandem. Newton 6' 2'' Weight: 327+ stepnoski 260+ leverage blocker, Gogan 6' 7"/325, Larry Allen 6 3 325, kyle koiser 6'5 294 came from detroit, when is the last time they had a 1000 yard running back let alone a running game? When dallas runs the ball to his side, we seem to get stuffed or it causes Marion Barber to have to bounce the play outside. Dallas could run over the Big Cat Davis 6'6 354 at any time. Any Questions.
3. At safety the dallas cowboys need safeties with range ie.. darren woodson and brock marrion that can hit and cover as well. Ken Hamlin gives dallas that flexibility, roy williams is to heavy and always out of positoin, see the whole 2007-2008 season of him getting torched. His being out of positoin leads to the horse collar tackle. For further research please see the two Santanna Moss TD's that broke all of our hearts in the ring of honor game that I am still trying to survive where he was suppose to be providing safety help.
4. Bigger WR's with some speed provided Troy Aikman with the luxury of having Alvin Harper, and Mike Irvin. Tony Romo just has TO. At the end of the Giants game, Tony Romo had no one he could get the ball to. In rememberance of the thanks giving day game win over green bay when our present OC Jason Garret was our Back up QB and produced a win, they asked him, what did mike irvin and al harper say, he said they said just throw it up, and we will go get it and make a play.
Thats what Romo needed at the end of the giants game. It would have helped. Tony Romo is a talent, give him every and I mean every opportunity to make a play.
I hate having to respond in these long Dissertations but there is my logic.
A tired NTouch.....

On the other hand, who wants a guy who, out of work, still thinks so much of himself that he won't join one staff on the fear of rattling the exisitng coordinator's confidence, but turns around and joins another staff, in a much less prestigious job as secondary coach?
was it just that the Cowboys really couldn't define a role for him?
Posted by pats fan @ 11:51 AM Fri, Feb 22, 2008
It just proves the theory when a choice is required between the Patriots or the Cowboys people will always choose the Patriots even if it means less money or prestige. The Patriots now are the Cowboys before Jerry Jones took over.
